598 ci BBC w/ Vortech blower makes 1000hp on 93 octane
Got this info from my friend Grahm over at Fast Times Motorworks in Morton Grove, IL. Im trying to get more specifics on the setup but it sounds wicked.
FastTimes has done it again! The most powerful conventional-headed pump gas engine was dynoed yesterday at the Morton Grove, IL facility of Fast Times Motorworks. 598 cubic inches stuffed by a Vortech blow-thru supercharger kit, cranks out over 1000 horsepower and 940 lb./ft. of torque! This monster is no erratic-idling high revving monster, it idles at 850 rpm and makes peak power at 6400rpm!
Introducing the most powerful conventional-headed, 93-octane burning engine around; the FastTimes Dominator 598SC!!
DOMINATE OR BE DOMINATED!

I dont think they have made the most powerful pump gas motor. I remember seeing the Pro Charger Nova that went low 8's on pump gas and I believe it made more than 1K HP on pump gas.
Edit:
http://www.procharger.com/chevy_nova.shtml
Yup, the first setup made 1275 and the other motor they built, not becasue the first blew up, made 1495 according to there page.

This engine was designed to be sold as a package engine, not as a one-off setup like ProCharger has. Its not a race engine. I wanted to put a ProCharger on this engine, but the customer had to have the Vortech.
It made just over 1000 @ 6400 and 941lb/ft of torque with 10lbs of boost, 8:1 compression, and non-intercooled. Give me an F2, with the cog belt setup, 2 carbs, and an intercooler and this engine would make a ton more power.
ProCharger blowers make more power. Period.

my motor in the sig below is a near duplicate right down to the turbo's and exhaust size as a guy local to me had. his site is http://www.montygwilliams.com/. it's not a BBC, or a conventional head setup, but it's not super exotic either. it's a 427sbc with 18* heads, twin 60-1 hifi (baby) turbo's and made 1200hp and 1000 lbft. on 93 octane pump gas! is there any question why i've got a Fast Times built motor?!?!?!?!
