VATS problem??
I had a short in the conector on my bcm, radio was turning on and off. I unpluged the conector and there was a loose wire. fixed it. then I went to start my car and everthing works but the starter will not engage. The security light on the cluster is not on and the led light on the dash is not blinking anymore.
does this sound like a VATS problem Or did somthing get messed up in the BCM??

If the security light isn't on then it's not a VATS problem. You should check that the yellow with black wire in the 32-pin blue connector at the BCM isn't loose or disconnected. That's the starter relay control wire. Also check all the black wires in each of the connectors because they provide the ground for the starter relay.

I checked all the fuses, they were good. I could not get the starter fuse to show that it had power. Is this b/c it only does when it is starting?? is it possible that I may have put some wires in the wrong spot when I reassembled the conector?? is there a diagram somwhere??
thanks
thanks

I got a few of the wires in the wrong spots. I put them back and everthing works again.
I could use a new conector though, mine is a little worn out from taking apart a few times. Do you know where I can get just a new conector??
thanks

Oops...you're right, I mistyped that. I have corrected the charts above. I double checked the part numbers and I had the correct colors there.
There's only two wires at the BCM that are related to the map/courtesy lights. They are the dark blue with white (power) and the white (ground).
The turn signals aren't related to the BCM at all.
