i haven't replaced mine yet but from what i've heard there is a useless plastic piece you cut back there i think. at least for double dins is what i think i heard. don't quote me on it though.

Crutchfield doesn't always know what they're talking about. If you're installing a single DIN radio, you want a Metra 99-3300 dash kit. Unless the radio is super deep, it'll sit in there nicely. Google it.

There is plenty of room in the f-body dash to mount pretty much what ever depth of a head unit.

There is a tab at the back that doesn't allow you to mount it flush unless you cut it out. For some reason the monsoon has a male rod thing that slides through the female part of the tab for rear support. The bottom part is recessed atleast 1/2" at the back of the head unit for this.

you're search must be broken, i found tons of pics.

any aftermarket single din head unit will fit no problem with even a cheap dash kit from autozone. i paid less than 10 bucks for a bag of more plastic **** than i knew what to do with, but my T/A and my Z28 both had perfect fitting head units.
