how do 10" subs sound, what one to get??
well i was purchasing a subthump t-top from somebody off this site but package got lost so deciding to go with a 10" stealthbox. can u get really loud bass out of 10". i don't always like pounding bass, but when i want it, i want it loud. i have around $250 to spend on a sub(no box). what u guys thinks?

i recently put a MTX 9500 10" in a ford truck, custom box, its loud, but not anything like a 12, dont expect much, if you want a lil bass for you an your passengers, go for it, if you want bass that will set off car alarms, a ten is not for you, mtx 9500 is the best 10 they make, i have also heard JL w7 they are pretty good, i think they may be louder than a 9500 but require more space
if you do go with a 10, make sure to stuff the box with fiberglass insulation

A good 10 in an enclosed stealth box will produce accurate, reasonably deep, cabin filling bass. Remember we've got hatchbacks, so it doesn't take much to get pretty good sound. Most 10s won't hit in you in the chest or dislodge your rearview mirror, though. Personally, I like the low-frequency extension and added volume you get from a 12 (I'm installing two Eclipse 12"s in the rear well of my Z28.)

Id say wait and save the money until you can afford the ttop subthump box with the 12's. They hit way harder than my old he-2 15's with the same amp. those 13Ov2's or whatever *the more expensive 12's* are amazing. I was really hesitant about trying them as I hadnt heard of the eD brand before. But am I glad I got em. The bass could prolly shake the car apart haha. Im just using an old RF 800.A2 amp that's bridged powering em.

Anywhere from "Mary Had a Little Lamb"-sounding to a 3000W, 1000W RMS sub. I know that Alpine makes that 3k sub in a 10", but other companies might even make subs with more power.
I would NOT recommend you spend a lot of money on a system unless you're ready to drop at least 1.5 grand just for the subs and amp (good amp, crossover, good wiring, dynamat, good installers) to have it done right. IF you get subs that hit real hard, **** starts rattling, and it sounds horrible. I'd rather just have nice highs than a system that just makes you hear metal on metal. I have 2 12's in a custom box that fit in the trunk well. They're Kicker Comps. It doesn't sound like I have King Kong in the trunk, but you can hear the well from outside the car, and there is absolutely ZERO trunk rattle or from anywhere else.

TC Sounds OEM10 is the perfect subwoofer for the stealth box. I don't believe anything out there is better than it in this box for a single 10 SQL system.
Give it about 1100 watts and you will love it.

not sure why everyone is recommending dual 10s/12s..... he said he has decided on a stealthbox and isn't looking for insane bass -- just for something to get decently loud, which a 10 can do. -get a sub that will work well in the volume provided and give it enough power, and I don't see how you wouldn't be happy...

Has anybody else ever noticed that people always recommend the sub they have, says it sounds great, and that they will rattle the car apart and give you a headache?
Its funny to me.

I didnt say how good my tens were, I think tens are a waste unless you dont need a brain rattling sub and wanna save space, but still want a sub for the lows.. i design custom sound systems everything from a 10 inch sub fiberglassed in the back of a volkswagen to 8 15s ina suv.. ive heard em all...

My advice to anyone is go to a shop and listen to as many speakers as you can. Someone has a system in there car listen to that too and write down what you like. That's the only real way to get what you want. First hand is always the best way to figure out what sounds best to you.
