Default Amp Rack like mounting.

How does an amp rack work? For example the ones made by Subthump.. does it stay in place by sheer size, pushing against the other panels, does it bolt in, or what?

Is it possible to mount an amp in the same location an amp rack would, in the t-top well, against the hatch lock? Using the least amount of material.. possibly mounting a board somehow on the back of the well, and covering it with the stock carpet material, then mounting the amp through the carpet onto the board?

You screw it into other pieces of wood behind the carpet. It doesn't sit great, but it does the job.

You have to go to home depot and buy about $10 worth of strapping and hardware to install the Sub thump amp rack it's not that hard to mount kinda time consuming though. The fit is not all that good the rack does not fit tightly against the moulded carpet and there are gaps along the edges . The longer you have it the looser it gets. I got rid of mine I'm going to do a rear seat delete and mount mu amps there.
