Default 08 cobalt ss vs s/c 350 z

My friends cobalt which is tune only and my friends stillen supercharged 350z thats full bolt ons raced prob 7 times. The cobalt won ever time baddd. Im trying to find the video. Each time te cobalt pulled about 2 cars. The 350 put down 330 to the wheels, and the cobalt putt down 300/300 which i find impossible to believe but not my car.

here the 350's dyno video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjkvNTxdGyk

08 cobalt would mean the T/C version and not the S/C version right?? if soo, those motors can handle very high boost and very high amounts of HP..

They are under-rated quite a bit from the factory (like GM rates anything accurately) and put down close to 250-255 stock. I'd say 300 is a little high and that 280-285 is the norm with a tune only.

this is a pretty old thread but ill bring it back, the stillen supercharger kits are the worst F.I. kit proven for the z..they do not make power worth a beans and suck for upgrading, they basically make bolt on n/a power and run n/a times...the 1st supercharger of choice would be vortech and then procharger..my vortech z on 9.5 psi made 420whp and 350ft. lbs. and ran 11.90@116 first time at the track, its good for 11.7x's with some track prep while a stillen z with same amount of boost is prolly a 13 second car, it really is a crappy kit and a waste...those stillen kits only sound cool basically..

I used to wrok at a infiniti/nissan dealer for a while and they actually warrranty stillen items when bought thru the dealer, so thats one plus i suppose.

But underperforming yes. I remember being scared as hell to run a STAGE 2 Stillen superchaged G35 6 speed. In the end though i walked him real hard.

Now my friends TT tiptronic G35 thats untuned and varied from 4.5 to 6.0 psi runs 12s lol

Was this a sedan or there was no
ss trim for the sedan.

They sound like decent dd with a potential.

Sarge didn't you have one of these?

actually in one of the Gm High Tech issues they upped the boost and did a few small upgrades to a T/C Cobalt and it put down like 290hp(almost wrote rwhp lol) so, i dont think 300 is too far out of the question with the right mods.

isn't the real story the weight though? Those 350Z's are 3,300+ pounds I believe, and the Cobalt has to be below 3k.
100 pounds /= 10whp /= .10 seconds aka "The Golden Rule" of 1/4 mile racing.

Sounds right to me. I rolled against a SC'd 350Z who put approx. 1.5 CLs on me in our brief session, very similar to what a C5Z with exhaust did to me. It was a pre-'07 and he told me he was making 399rwhp.

I don't know what SC he had, but I WISH he was only making 330rwhp...!!

Yes there was an SS/TC sedan. It was only '08-'09 and was pretty rare from what I can see.

Mine was a coupe. Just couldn't stand the interior so I took it back.

Wow a lot of people have chosen the MS3 or Si over the SS exactly because of that reason. I never noticed the interior i suppose because my dives were limited to spirited test drives of a buddies SS, but is it really that horrendous?
Worse then an F bodies even?!!?

yeah for all u guys dont ever be scared if u hear a 350z with that whine cause its gonna be slow with that stillen kit no matter what stage it is...the vortech and procharged ones are the ones that have the potential to be pretty fast, id take mine further but im still stock block and dont wanna throw a rod so until its built it will stay where its at with 420whp., an 11 sec car is a fun daily driver and still reliable...

those new turbo balts are much better than the older supercharged ones though for peoples notice..they will go high 13's stock i beleive so with some slight mods should be into 12's, its just that they are wrong wheel drive which kill them

I loved the way it performed, but it had the exact same interior as a $14k Cobalt XFE. The only difference is the boost guage, shifter, and seats. The seats weren't even that comfortable to me. I loved the interior of my ex's MS3 and it was even a little bit quicker than the CSS.

lol, ive actually been searching the marketplace day in and out for a nice c5 zo6 of my liking to come around my area (trolling), then started reading around and found some humerous topics to comment on....yeah those stillen kits are garbage u cant even tune them, they have pre tuned chips from stillen so its not like u can even mix and match other bolt on parts to make more power it will mess the tune all up and make things worse..it is designed for the stillen exhaust and thats about it no other bolt on's and there are different stages up to a stage 4 which is a whopping like 390whp..its pathetic thats like the max power of the kit it can produce and they are expensive cause its stillen...go beat on them most of the people who go for the stillen kits do them cause they dont know anything about anything and will even have a lame automatic which on the z's makes less power yet and is quite a bit slower..lol

Stupid Question but what is an MS3? I'm in the market for a decent little DD so I can finish modding my GTO. I was leaning towards a new Cobalt SS or LS1 Vette (gas mileage is the excuse! hard to beat 30mpg on the freeway... or so I'll tell the wife).

Mazdaspeed 3. If i had a gun t my head and had to buy a FWD car this would be it.

Amazing handling, was going up and down some winding roads with 5 people in the car and i could feel when each tire would break loose and when it did it acted much like a rwd car, suggested speed was 35mph and i felt comfortable at 90 in a loaded FWD car!

(owner was in passenger seat crying, havent seen him that scared ever,, very funny)
