Default my 99 Z vs Foxbody 5.0

alright i have to share this with everybody.. sorry no video but i have a friend with an old 5.0 lx who has been talkin **** on LS1s for like a year now he has been sayin "I beat LS1 6 speeds all the time and they are weak" we have never had a chance to race.. finally shut his *** up today! he has a cobra intake, headers and exhaust, built 5 speed and some other **** i'm not sure (his daddy is a ford mechanic and built the whole car for him) my car is completely stock except K&N CAI

I just happened to see him on the highway today goin to work so i flagged him down and told him to put up or shut up (i had 1 200 pound passenger and he had none) so he pulls up next to me and just hammers it like an ******* mustang driver usually does.. i finally got him to let me honk it off he jumped me on the 2nd honk and of course i just blew by him like the wind he didn't even want to race again but i convinced him to.. 2nd run wasnt even a challenge i left him in dust lol sorry for the long story and no vids but i have been pumped about this all day! then he has the ***** to tell me my car isn't stock lol but i don't think he will be talkin **** on LS1s anymore

Good kill. Foxes are a pushover when their motor hasn't been opened up. I highly doubt he has beat any LS1 in a bolt-on Fox.

With gears and the right suspension/tires he might be able to crack off a 12.9... but the mph would still be low compared to your's, and you would still rape every roll race.

Not with just bolt-ons he won't.

It's been done before. I'm not talking a car with Nittos and 3.73s... I'm talking one with some serious rubber and 4.10s or 4.30s.

Who was driving, Evan Smith?

With just bolt-ons it won't happen. Even the guys that had ported E7TE's and intake back in the day didn't get 12s to easily.

Well first off, we don't know exactly what is done to this particular car. What we do know is that a Mustang LX (notch or coupe) can run very hard from a dig with the right tire/suspension/gear setup. It doesn't take 300rwhp+ in a foxbody to run 12s like it does an F-body.

Bolt ons, 4.30's or even steeper, some slicks and suspension should get it dont in a LX notch. It will useless after the 1/4 and in a roll race on the street cause of the gears. But will accelerate good in the 1/4.

old 5.0's are lunch meat...even the strokers are't very good for the most part. The only thing they have goin is low weight.

+1. There are a few vids ive seen of basically stock notch with a few minor boltons and slicks pulling the wheels and running mid 12s.... at like 101 or 102. I'll see if I can find them.

Edit: Well t his one doesnt quite pull the wheels but you get the idea.

This one pulls the wheels at 1:30

My fox has mild h/c/i and will barely keep up with the slowest of ls1s(stock auto) from a roll.

Good kill btw!

Old 5.0 is to LS1 as what LS1 is to new 5.0. I'm not trying to start anything just saying that the old 5.0 was the king in its day and the same goes for the LS1.

So far the new 5.0 is doin ok. Still not a great roll car...definitly not the comparison you described. I can remember beating up on a few old 5.0's back in the day with dad's 305 tpi IROC and a old 305 monza I had. King???? I would say not.
