Default Looking for a Stock C5 to run in long island

Whats up guys. I'm looking to buy a c5 or a terminator cobra during winter break, I'm a college engineering student. I just want to know if its really worth it and how they preform stock compared to my current beater. Looking to do a fun run with a cool guy with a stock or extremely lightly modded C5 non z06. I have a bolt ons 98 accord J35 6 speed swap. My car weighs 3100lbs+plus me, its not gutted at all, I have full leather and woodgrain so by no means is it a race car. Doesn't sound like much but its killed every car its ever ran, from evo x's, trailblazer ss, stis, e46 m3s to gtos all modded. Im not looking to throw down money, just a fun run with a fellow enthusiast and no I'm not a honda guy or in the "honda game". If someone has a stock c5z thats looking to run or a stock c6 ill use my slicks to even it out. Ill be home next weekend and ill be looking to run on saturday the 13th. My names James and shoot me a pm or a comment below and hopefully we can work something out!

I'm sure there would be plenty of near stock LS1 F Bodies in your area, that would give you a friendly run (they run similar times to stock C5s, maybe a tick or 2 behind because of weight).

I have trouble believing your car would kill all of those "modded" cars you mentioned (unless your definition of modded comprises of only an intake, and maybe exhaust).

If you're somehow unable to find a stockish C5 in your area then drive on out to Colorado. I'll run you.

How about you run my bone stock LT1 C4 before you move up to a C5

You're from ER aren't you?

Exactly what I said, I don't understand it either. The closest race Ive ever had was with a saleen s281 mustang, he had gears, i/h/e, a tune and I don't know what else. Then again all of those races were from a roll except the evo. I can't launch it from a dig with 225s, I just spin.

Same family of motors. Your thinking about the J32a2 that 99% of the j swaps are. I have its much bigger and rarer brother.

it made 297whp/305wtq on my old bone stock j35a4 with a tune from Chris miller. I'm now untuned on a j35a3 with a j37a1 rotating assembly. So its essentially an untuned j36 but i do feel a lot more tq and power with the new motor. these aren't the typical honda motors you deal with.

^ That's a lot more power / torque than I would have expected - impressive.

thanks, I'm in the process of boosting it as well, still collecting all the parts. I should be at about 800whp and 650-675lbs of tq on stock internals with e85 and on a stock transmission (with a twin disk of course). Don't want to go much higher then that. The stock steel sleeves hold up very well. These motors are the untapped goldmine of the honda family. No one really knows the full potential. Ill surely post my build thread if someone is interested.

But back on topic, Ive run stock f bodies before, Im looking for a corvette.

Nice numbers, just curious how you made 297/305 wheel on a motor rated at 240/242 crank with just a tune?

they're underrated, detuned and highly restricted from the factory. My numbers aren't uncommon; untuned ones are dynoing at 275whp. Remember they're for "economy," its only a single cam.

pretty much one of the only races I have with it on tape. Heres an i/h/e tuned trailblazer ss awd. I gave him a car and a break. This was the day I got my car tuned and out of limp mode, I wasn't used to it yet so excuse my poor driving. I'm clearly spinning until I get passed the trailblazer. I won by about 2 and a half cars.

I really like your Accord, I'm a fan of that body style. Very nice and good luck finding that stock C5.

Thanks, you should have seen it before I crashed it :/ it kills me to look at it now. It was so clean and now it looks like frankenstien and b20vtec's bastard child.
