Default Got killed today

By this

Was just cruising around and see this guy go past me. I pay him no mind but notice that he's in front of the car that's in front of me. We are in the middle lane and the car in front of me goes into the slow lane. The guy on the bike keeps looking back at me. Then he motions me forward. At this point I'm thinking to myself, oh great this guy wants to humiliate me. I shift the car out of OD into 3rd and he hears me downshift and takes off. I follow him up to a point where there's traffic up ahead. He manages to squeeze through and waits again. Traffic clears up and I'm about a car behind him when he hits and then I hit it and I pull on him and wind up putting 3 cars on him He must have screwed up or something. He gets along side and then we hit it again, he puts 5 cars on me up to 130 and then neither of us pull. We line up again and the same result happens.

He uses his hand like a phone so I told him to pull over to the next exit. We talk and he compliments the car saying that he kept looking back and was surprised to see that I was still there. He gives me his number and tell me to hook up sometime with him and the rest of his crew.

Cool guy and he gave alot of props to the car and states that it doesn't matter what kind of car it is, he just loves speed. I can respect that.

The bike looked just like the picture posted, it's a 919CC bike. I'm thinking that he should have been able to kick my *** more than he did but oh well. My first race and loss to a bike.

I wouldnt feel bad, although many supermodded cars can keep up and beat bikes.
But for the most part IMO it really is no contest.

The R1 does a 1/4 in 10.33 at like 138, stock.
That is just wicked.

600's arent really that fast, but anything 750 and up is a rocket.
Granted the new 600's are alot faster, but nothing like the R1, Ninja 900 and GSXR's 750 and up.

A Fireblade engine in the UK is from the Honda CBR900 Fireblade sports bike.

10 second 1/4's 170mph+ top speed the bike at the top of the page is called a Honda Hornet in the UK and it came with a 600cc CBR sports bike engine that was detuned slightly. Then the put the bigger 900CC detuned Fireblade engine in there.

Do you not have Fireblades in the USA?

It was the top sports bike in the UK for about 8 years until the Yamaha R1 came along!

There are some Fireblades here, just not many. My uncle is running the company in France and has one, its a sick bike, the perfect crusing crotch rocket!

actually 600s with a pro rider can run 10.50's at 130 and 1000 can run 9.9's at 145, so i would say that 600 aren't really that fast lol

Thats a Honda 919.

Extremely detuned old 900 RR motor that was retired here in the US in 1999.

The bike is heavey and only makes a little over 110 at the wheel.

By no means compare it to a current 1000cc sport bike. Back in CA a friend had one, and I could walk it pretty easy on my 2003 Kawsaki Ninja 636.

Yes even though it's an old detuned 919 Fireblade motor it will still run 11's that's why our freind at the top of the post got owned by it!

I've had all the top sports bikes in the last ten years and I used to work as a motorbike saleaman for a top British motorcycles outlet.

I been to the drag strip on a street bike day and they are all fast there's not much to pick between the top bikes as the magazines would have you believe.

I rode one of the first Honda Hornet 600 demo bikes back from Donnington park raceway to our shop and there is no way a Standard 600 Hornet will run 10's as someone has said above pro rider or not . It might run an 11 but prolly 12. The 919 Hornet with 110 rwhp definatly run 11's!

The bike looked like it would trap about 120. With my new setup now, it will be a very close race.

Does anyone know what kind of bike an 800 might be? I was at the track for the Friday Night Street Races and just before I was leaving some guy came up and asked if I wanted to race a bike. I said sure I didnt mind having my *** handed to me . Well he said it was just an 800 and a cruiser, not a Harley or Goldwing type cruiser, but not an R streetbike.

Well to my suprise I beat him by 2-3 cars! After the race he said that he underestimated my car and wanted a rematch. We lined back up and I beat him by 2 cars again. He could launch that well but by looking in my rearview I was pulling the whole time.

Then the next day at the drags I went up against an R1 and just about pissed myself as he flew by at the end of the track (bracket racing). His 10.36@137 to my 12.19@108 Oh well, 1 for 2 with the bikes isnt bad

Do they look like a street bike? This looked like any other Honda or Suzuki street bike but they said it was a "cruiser". Should have gotten more info.

I read on a car and driver or similar website for bikes,

They tested they Suzuki, Kawasaki, Yamaha And Honda 600's and they all went under 11 sec's in the quarter...they fastest being the Kawi running a 10.7....

And I thought most liter+ sport bikes ran 9's...

With a couple in the 8's?

I dunno... They are fast though...

no way...

only a couple of the 1000cc sport bikes run high 9's, none run 8's or even close.

If they are running 8's, which I have seen, they are usually running a big turbo.

Stock bike times

That link looks to have pretty accurate times on it...

Yeah, I thought 8's was a little too good to be true...
