how quick are blown 5.0's?
Buddy of mine has a caged 5.0 with a 4-link, stock 302 5.slow motor with a powerdyne pushing about 6psi.. i've got a full bolton LS1 in a 3000lb car, but only good leaf springs, no caltracs or anything.. he keeps running his mouth, i don't know if I can take him.. any advice? both cars on drag radials..

302's are stange beasts and range from 134bhp to about 235bhp in stock trim over the years. Some take too boost well. But if it's a later 225bhp 5.0 in a Fox I doubt it's at 300rwhp if it's how you describe it.
Aftermarket blocks (Dart 331) with boost should be able to see 650rwhp no problem.

Im not sure of the psi, but stock engine, with stock gears he bested a 13.3, on a 75 degree night. He said on his stock motor with a flowmaster he pulled 359 at the motor. It was fast, but not crazy fast.

I had a 5.0 with a Vortech and bolt-ons and it ran 12.80's@108 with a crappy tune(spewing balck smoke). It may have gone 12.50's. I put a C-4/stall, H&C&I and it went 10.91@124 with the stock block.

I think the highest those powerdynes can do is about 12lbs.
That being said, if he really is at 6#s he would be at about the power level of a stock ls1. So you've got him beat in power. If he doesn't have some good weight reduction you will have him there as well. If you can get that off the line I can't see him keeping up at all really.

You want have a problem! I also have a 5.0 94 cobra that has a Vortech and I was pushing 12lbs with an awsome Tune! It made 400 rwh roughly. Nothing crazy fast but it might surprise ya. I would just run him. I think you should win.

their quite the motor. a few boltons and their int he 13's. nothing special. then you do some wiked internal work with a blower and your int he 10's. 2 rollin arouind my area that run low 10's. crazy vortech blowers on both of them.
then again theres a camm'd 5.0 around town that ran a 14.0 in the 1/4. their unpredictable.

5.0s are one of those platforms that can be either dog slow or really mean

It started to use oil while he had the motor in his car, by then the shortblock had about 70k on it. A forged bottom and more boost (it made around 10lbs) It would have been a solid 10.50 car. I have a bone stock 92GT vert with 30k on it I would love to start playing with but unfortunately I have other things that are taking priority right now.

Stock motor huh? Sure it is. Pay no attention to the 4 link and the cage certified
to 7.50's. Those are appearance mods.
If it's really a stock motor with a little boost, you'll stomp him.
