Yeah i've raced stock fbodies in the Z06.....MURDER. Its all about the weight, gearing, and aerodynamics especially in the higher speeds. Oh yeah...and the extra HP helps a bit too. That being said...for the most part its going to take full bolt ons to even get CLOSE. Most of the time you'll need a cam too especially at higher speeds. I've seen people claim to beat or hang with stock Z06s with just bolt ons but I've yet to see it first hand. I trap 116mph stock, I don't see ANY bolt on fbody running that fast in the 1/4. Hopep that helps!

I agree for the most part^^, but with just bolt ons people are trapping higher speeds then 116mph. I trapped 110mph with the mods in sig. A full bolt on car should hang or beat a ZO6, but you got to dish out the money. Also it comes down to a drivers race in the end. I see Vipers( my most fav. car) at the track running 13s because the driver can't launch or shift.

Show me a bolt on f body trapping higher than 116mph with NO internal work done. I just don't believe it until I see it. Also, I left out driver error. I'm comparing the full potential of car vs. car assuming both drivers are equal.

I shall search tonight, but for right now I must go back to work. I will do some homework on this and try not to make a fool out of myself. Not saying your wrong, I just think there are some cars out there that are trapping higher, how could there not be. Once again give me some time to look this up.

stock fbodies can trap up to 109 stock. and your gonna say fullt bolt on wont net it another 7-8 mph. i think a full bolt on ls1 will give a 03 zo6 a run for its money. esp if its get off the line better. no once you get up 100+ the aerodynamics will come into play. but i think it would be close

From a stop yes it may give it a run for its money. I was more though trying to compare which car is FASTER, not which car gets off the line better, or if the f body was full bolt on and had a better driver could it beat the Z06? In any case, I have never seen or heard of ANY bolt on LS1 F body trapping higher than 116mph without some sort of internal work done. If there is, I would love to see it. Not trying to start anything of course, just thought I was in a position to give my input based on my first hand experience with both cars, (see sig)

Ok, did some searching on none other then LS1 Tech. and found the times in the racing section in Drag race times or whatever. It says bolt on only stock engines. It was faster then I was thinking by a long shot but there are a couple over 116mph trap speeds. I shall try and post it up when I get home.

when i first got my z06 and it was stock i raced my friends stock 98 t/a. We did a couple of light to lights. He was very good at launching and i wasn't so he would get out a car on me with me spinning pretty bad. By 60 in second I caught him and had about car on him by the time i shifted to third. 70mph and up it was rape, he couldn't hang at all on the top end.

At higher speeds, they would probably lose. Brian98Z28, you are correct, the C5 ZO6 is most likely faster then a N/A Bolt on F-Body, but they can trap higher then 116mph in the 1/4. Everyones right and nobodies wrong, we all get a pat on the back.
