Default CTS-V Brakes???

So i have read a lot about the CT-V brake conversion on the F-bodies but I still have a lot of questions.

1. What parts do you need? ( I have read the you need a caliper relocation bracket but I have also read otherwise.)

2. Will just about any 18" wheel fit?

3. How much does the whole setup end up costing?

4. Does anyone sell a kit or do you have to peice it together yourself?

5. How does the stopping power compair to most other big brake kits.

i am working on a write up w/ pictures for this brake setup.

1. the CTS-V caliper is a 1 piece fixed caliper and bracket combined.
(side note you will need 2 or 4 washers to space the caliper away from the LS1 kunckle to align with the rotor correctly)

2. i believe any 18 wheel has the correct dia... to allow clearance between the inside wheel barrel and the CTS-V caliper.
(although its the wheels "spokes" that make contact with the caliper since the caliper is much wider, and since we added washers to align the caliper to the rotor it will decrease caliper to spoke clearance futher)
slip on/fit spacer will be needed or a bolt on spacer will be needed depending on your wheel and offset.
some members have other aftermarket wheels that fit with out spacers.
as for me i only need a 1/4 - .250 spacer to gain the correct caliper to spoke clearance. i am using oem 18x10.5 C5 Z06 wheels.

3. so far i have $600.00 invested 2 calipers, 2 C6 Z06 rotors, 2 longer brake lines, washers, and brake fluid.

4. so far its piece it together yourself.

5. i cant answer the question for better braking yet since i dont have it installed sorry.

^ ^ ^ your number 2 is worng. not any 18" whell. it needs to have a 1.25 inch space between bacspcing and spoke. i belive

also why not just use the new cts-v brake. that is just like a vet brake.

once my car is done. i am going to run cts-v 6 piston up front and 4 piston out rear.

Oohh, I am interested in this too. I would like the 6 piston front and 4 piston rears if I can get that to work on my car. I have the C6 Z06 rotors. Just need to verify if the calipers will clear my wheels.

sorry, a 18 inch wheel will fit just fine, we are talking about wheel dia.... not backspacing, and not wheel barrel designs. then.... futher in the sentance i talk about backspacing from the caliper to the spoke clearance or did you miss that?
the issue is not the wheel size but the CTS-V caliper to wheel "spoke" clearance.
youll need about 2.5 inchs from the C6 Z06 rotor to the wheel spokes
as you can see i DONT have that amount of clearance in the picture.
so either a spacer is needed, or different wheels.

I will be following this upgrade as well. I want to do this brake swap or a C6 Z06 swap, I haven't decided yet.

sorry i didn't read it right. but to answer the correct question. yes a 18inch will work,

but he asked "Will just about any 18" wheel fit?" and again i say no NOT JUST about any. most wont do to the backspacing.

I used 18 inch vette magnesium rims, 20 mm eibach bolt in spacers, because the offset is 60 mm on these vette rims . I also used 2010 Camaro discs, however, you needed to machine the hub on the Camaro discs, to open them up, but did not need, to use spacers to fit...
