Default driver side front tire wear...outer edge only.

this seems to be something new.

the outer 2" of the tire seemed to wear VERY quickly the past year or so.

car has 70K miles, i've had it for 30K and i've never aligned it.

wondering what suspension parts could be worn out on only the driver side that could cause this uneven wear.

passenger tire seems fine.

this COULD be an old problem, i changed the front tires soon after i bought the car, drove it 15K miles and then changed the rims/tires again.

just wondering what could be bad other than just normal out of alignment

It is more than likely out of alignment. This could be the result of hitting a pretty good size pot hole, or something. Or it could be the result of a bushing wearing out. Start with the alignment and go from there.

My car has been perfectly aligned to factory specs for 80K miles and I've had this with every set of tires. It seems to be the way the front is set up. To combat it, I keep the tires rotated and one time, I even dismounted them and turned all the tires around.

Well yes even with a perfect alignment one does have to rotate the tires. With my car I rotate tires every 5 to 6 miles

I think 5000 miles is more typical for a street car.

little hard to rotate tires when the fronts are 275s and the rears are 315s

these were cheepie tires that came used on the rims anyway...and that was 4yrs ago...so i can't say i'm mad really.

i WILL get it alligned before i put some new Nitto NT555s or NT01s up front this time

Or maybe you can remount the fronts on different sides to give you some more time on the existing tires?

See, that's why you gotta run 315's on all 4 corners Believe it or not, they fit better on the front than they do the rear.

I believe the stock alignment range is somewhat a little in positive camber, or at least mine was. It's horrible for tire wear and will wear the outside edge. I'd get an alignment and have the car run a little bit of negative camber like -0.5 and get the toe even.

Rotating tires keeps the wear even between tires. Doesn't prevent uneven wear in one specific location.

I don't have this problem at all, and I don't rotate my tires.
