Lowering springs for drag setup?
What are some good lowering springs for drag and street car. By street i mean drive it on the weekends. It is a h/c/i trans am. I am only wanting it to drop like 1.25-1.5 inches. I am looking at some afco shocks and want some good springs to go with it. Thanks Justin

No lowering springs are "good" for drag racing. You want a tall, soft spring to help weight transfer, and a lowering spring is a short, stiffer spring.

The Afco shocks are a great choice for what you are doing, and will come with a set of springs that will work for your needs. The Afco shocks have an adjustable ride height so you can set your stance to how you like it. Most cars in your power range will not benefit from a lowered ride height for drag strip use though.
Give us a call or email when you are ready for those shocks and springs. We have them in stock and at unbeatable prices.

We have a lot of customers running our lowering springs in the rear cutting 1.3Xs and going deep, low 9s. The stiffer spring can actually help with the launch because it will help the car come back straighter and if you're using a good tire that can take advantage of this extra force from a stiffer spring, you can use this to your benefit. However, it does lower the center of gravity, which can have a negative impact on weight distribution under launch, and if you're not using a sticky, tall sidewall tire you can hurt your launch.
What it comes down to is setup. With the proper setup, you can build you car to work very well with the springs. If you don't then it could impose a problem.
