Default ABS / Brake Light On

Just bought this 98 z28. 3 ch(non traction control) ABS INOP and BRAKE lights on the dash are on. Normal driving is fine, brake fluid is full. I changed the abs module from a good car to test and no change. I found passenger pigtail was disconnected i reconnected but no change.

Normally ABS INOP light would only come on but i have the brake light on as well so wondering if this is 2 possible problems.

Unfortunately i don't know anyone with a tech 2 or else i'd just scan the system but is their anything else i could do besides replacing both wheel hubs?

mine has the same issue.. 2 codes came up, speed sensor, and/or abs block, i changed the speed sensor nothing happened.. so on mine could be the abs, try to check speed sensor, or any cut wires..

abs block as in the part on the front of the module that the big harness goes into held in by 6 torx bits? Sensors are all good, wiring in tact. I really hate ABS but trying not to hack up a camaro for once. Your brake light is on as well?

If the wheels are staggered then maybe the height of the tires are more than a 1" difference? Could be something to look at.

I would chase down the lines themselves. One of mine had been rubbing and broke which popped up as ABS INOP.

pull your speed sensors and clean them. Also an issue with my car was that a wire too close to the header causing the light to come on and stay on. Once I did the blower on my car this problem was found and solved. No more ABS INOP light since then.

Stock tire sizes. I bought another set of wheel hubs well see if it helps and i'll have another look at the wires.

Also how do you pull the sensor out of the hub itself?

Check the wires, mine burnt on my passenger header and triggered a light.

Replaced both hubs no change. Car does have longtubes though nothing looks burnt? I don't like how close they are so i was thinking about re-routing through the wheel well. The brake light went off when i put the ABS fuse back in that previous owner took out. ABS INOP still on.

My abs/inop came one when i had the car tuned. Since then I have not been able to clear them.....I'm going to clean the speed sensors. Maybe that will do the trick

Just an update, it was in fact the abs module held on by the 6 torx screws up front. When i had swapped it the first time that was from a 2000 car. 98 is different then 99-02 just for anyone's information. Found one cheap on ebay just swapped in and finally no lights and everything working as it should!
