Default 4-piston front brake kits with rotors, lines, pads... $999-$1199

I'm proud to announce that we have assembled 4 new kits that are easy to install, and DRASTICALLY improve braking power, pedal feel, and life of your brakes.

The kits allow you to bolt on 4 piston Wilwood calipers in either Red or Black. You have the option of either blank rotors, or premium high-end slotted DBA rotors that are slotted and have temperature paint too so you can track your temps. The kits come with new brake pads, and stainless lines for the new calipers, as well as a new bracket to bolt them up (some minor grinding is required but instructions are included).

This isn't the first "Big Brake kit" for the car, but it's the most cost effective. Starting @ $999 for the set with blanks, and $1199 for the set with the DBA slotted 4000 series rotors it's much less than other kits. Also works with 17" wheels. Please note that not every 17" wheel will work and there is a template that should be used to check if your wheels will. Some spacer may be required depending on the wheels used, but they clear stock C5 fronts by a mile.

Black calipers w/blank 12.8" directional rotors: $999.00

Red calipers w/DBA 4000 Series Slotted rotors, 12.8": $1199.00

Black calipers w/DBA 4000 Series Slotted rotors, 12.8": $1199.00

Every link has pictures of the calipers, pads, rotors, brake lines and brackets.

I know there are other brake kits, but when you compare what we have here to even a C5 setup, you get MUCH better stopping power and brake pedal feel because we are eliminating the sliding 2 piston front caliper, while saving some costs by not running a very expensive 2 piece rotor. That is an option should you want it, but we have other kits that come with those that would actually save you time and money vs. trying to upgrade these. What we want is to offer good, solid, larger, rotor options with much better caliper design than stock F-body or stock Corvette, and do it for a price that is reasonable. We feel we've done that.

For those wondering about wheel fitment, here is a template using the calipers and the same rotor size and location (this one taken specifically from a Corvette fitment using same caliper and rotor sizing/location)

Awesome, Sam! Comes with BP10 pads I would assume?

Also, in looking at that drawing, it looks like it says it needs 1.45" from the face of the rotor to the edge of the caliper? Is that right? The SL6 only needs .75"... is this caliper that much thicker than the SL6?

But this would be engineered to work well considering the C5/C6 has the same rear caliper we have.

THANKS Sam!

I was hesitant to get one of the Wilwood kits offered by them, since it would MANDATE the use of THEIR very costly replacement rings for their 2 piece rotors (even though that would be the ONLY way to have 4 piston, FIXED front calipers AND keep 16" OEM wheels).

Are there any other options on rotors or pads (as in brand names {Centric, Ate, etc.}, or compounds {like Carbotech AX6es, etc.}), or are we bound to the Wilwood pads?

Yes, still C5 rotors. I know you can get some really really cheap, but I use better quality stuff than the corner parts store.

Right, BP10 which is nice street pad, but not a track pad. But Race compounds are cheap, and available from other companies/compounds too so we aren't boxed in with only Wilwood.

This works REALLY well because it's a designed kit.

There are other pads too like I said before. Porterfield, Hawk, Ferodo, Performance Friction, etc. But I've been playing with some Wilwood compounds too and they aren't very expensive and they have a lot of choice. But we have to pick the right one, which I can help with too (and I have the complete line of those too).

Sam, that was a timely post. I've been exploring upgrade options and was leaning towards the Wilwood investment simply because the high end track pads are only a fraction of a cost of the OEM pad sizes. I typically run Hawk DTC-60 or DTC-70 in the front.

Do you have the details on the replacement pads for this kit? If I could figure out what size they are I would be happy to put in the time to research options.

Better and for a few reasons.

Pads are cheaper. Rotors are cheap. But most of all this simple point. CTS-V's are very different sized cars, with different master cylinders and different rear brake calipers. All that is designed to work together, but when you use those brakes on a 4th gen, you are putting the front calipers on a car that has a master cylinder not sized for the extra pistons in the front. Now the Wilwoods have extra pistons too, but the caliper is built around the brake system it's being used with (and the calipers are replacing). The C5 and F-body use the same kind of calipers front and rear stock. These Wilwoods are built and designed to be used in place of those GM calipers. The CTS-Vs are not.

And typically you must run a spacer, depending on the wheels you run, to have any hope of fitting those swapped brakes. This setup works with a stock C5 Z front wheel with room to spare. I can't say it will fit every wheel known to man (review the template), but will fit a lot more than a cobbled together kit, and will work, because of the rotor size with 17" wheels.

BTW, I have a C6 Z06. These brakes on a C5 (for as much of a like comparison as I can make) feel better.

What details would you like? DTC-70's are $159. HT-10's are $123. Wilwoods Polymatrix H's are $200.

Sam
That's exactly what I needed to know. So it would be a substantial savings on the pads (compared to the OEM pads) I was hoping for!

How does this kit compare to a base C5 conversion with track brackets? Would unmolested spindles be required to run this kit?

I really like this kit. It'll be my next brake upgrade for sure.
