Default Christmas present to myself!!

finally got me some koni 4/3. I have a couple of questions one is whats the easiest way to open the ring so i can set it to the lower setting? Also how do i remove the plastic boot on the rears so i can adjust them? Now if it would just stop raining so i can install them.

To move the ring, you just have to force it out. Its not that bad, but when i was adjusting them it felt like i was going to brake something at first, but trust me you just have to force it out. As for adjusting the rears, the black portion will slide down over the yellow body of the shock. again, just takes some force.

What settings are you going to go with? Is this on stock springs?

yes im am going to use stock springs for now until i figure out what springs i want and to fix the damage i did to my wallet from buying the shocks. I was going to go on click from full soft on the rears not sure about the fronts yet. For springs its between LG motorsports and strano. I want a little more of a drop then the strano springs give.

LGs springs are alot lower than the Stranos, and the rears are significantly more stiff. I run 4 clicks from full stiff on the fronts and full soft on the rear with the strano springs. Dont set the rears too high as the higher setting will promote lift throttle oversteer. You can't go wrong with either spring setup.

i guess i could go with stranos and then if i want it lower to put it on the lower setting for the front shocks. I was also thinking about ground control coil overs. I know about not setting the rear to soft which is why im only going on click from full soft.

I know a bit about suspension, but I'm dumb when it comes to the 4/3 and 4/4 (I think I've seen 4/4). Would someone explain that to me?
And, yes, setting the rear too stiff will give you throttle over-steer...especially when your rear bar is too big (my 25.4mm). I'm going with Ground Controll for my car when I get the money. Right now, I'm getting ready to pony over the cash for SFC and LCA relocation bracket installation.

Shock setup information is part of the sale, so you can feel free to call me for that. As for the springs, just bear in mind while my spring and the LG springs are the same rate in front, the rears are not. Theirs are much stiffer 17-32% stiffer than mine, and at their stiffest double stock rear rates. But there isn't much weight back there and being the car is a solid axle, it acts a lot like an empty or lightly loaded pick-up. And you know what big springs do there, make it skip around a lot.

No, we aren't the lowest for a reason. Too many things get messed up when you go too low. Ride, suspension geometry, the ability for the spring to support the car without total reliance on the bumpstop (which you'll still get to with mine, just not as hard.

Whatever you decide, you cannot run my springs on the lower perch, and you should not do that for ANY spring you pick.

Here is how the car sits now. The rear height isnt so bad, but the fronts are just awful. I am most likely going to go with strano springs i just want that gap in the front to fill in more. Looking from the pictures it starting to look like the tires seem a bit small in the sidewall area. The rears are 285/35-18 and the fronts are 255/45-17.

It is a significant drop. About 1.5" front and 1.3" rear.

That's referring to the generation that the shock is meant for. The 4/3 is just using the third gen rear shock instead of the fourth gen to save some cash. Since you mentioned ground control I might as well ask. Are they just coil-overs or do the offer something that fits in the spring pocket to only adjust the spring? I might just go with racecraft's drop spindles for now.

i was looking at spring compressors and i came across this and was seeing if this will be good to use http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...mnumber=43753? It looks safer the the ones that you rent from autozone.

No it doesnt matter if you get 4/3 or 4/4. The 4/3 are going to be cheaper. The difference between the two is that with the 4/3 you have to remove the rear shocks in order to adjust them were as the 4/4 you can adjust with them installed on the car.

the reason for that can be due to several different things, including differences in the angle between the before & after pictures, and the fact that many people (myself included) post up their pics very soon after they get them installed, before they have had time to settle. mine have started to settle some more since i posted my pics, and i will be taking some new photos/measurements again in probably a week or two and updating my thread. but they've settled enough to be very noticeable, especially in the front.

i love my Koni/Strano setup, it's just about as low as i'd want to go on a daily driver, and it handles like no other now

Well today i ordered myself a little after the holidays present which are Strano springs and a UMI double adjustable PHB. I couldnt wait and i already have to shocks in and they were definetly money well spent, I dont mind redo it all over again. Cant wait to drive it with the whole package. Any suggestion on whats a good starting setting then i can fine tune from there?
