Default Average Koni Rebuild Cost

I picked up a used pair of 8241-1139 Sport and when I recieved them one of the adjusters is stuck and the other you can get two turns tight like the adjustment is working and then the adjuster will get loose and turn forever so i'm assuming both of them are broken. Does anybody have any idea of the average cost to rebuild them?

If you were lucky enough to get the receipt from the original owner, you might be able to get them fixed under warrenty, If not then you might be out of luck. Give Koni a call...

no receipt unfortunatley I bought them off e-bay. I found a site in CA that is authorized by Koni to rebuild them and it said it was $115 per shock for a total rebuild which would include new seals, o rings, and repainting them. Any extra parts would be on top of that. Of course Koni is here in Ky so I would rather send the shocks to them.

..this is why I don't buy on E-bay.

Do you have any recourse to the seller; obviosly, you did not receive what you "won" at auction?

Yeah I am in the process of talking to the people I won them from to see if they will do anything about it. Maybe Sam will chime in on the subject. I did talk with Koni direct and there saying $150 to $160 a shock plus parts

I have Koni do all work I need, I don't trust anyone else because I've seen them all screw up. You need to think long and hard about the total cost now. Add what the shocks cost you, to the rebuild cost for the two--assuming they don't need any hard parts replaced. Add the shipping to you, then to Koni and back and the 6 weeks it'll probably take to get done. Have you saved any money? Maybe, maybe not.

If you opt for a rebuild, I highly recommend you have Koni do it.

I bought a name-brand golf bag from a so-called reputible source on E-Bay once. It turned out to be a cheap immitation and the seller refused to take it back and refund my purchase price.

E-Bay also refused to help; therfore, I do not buy from E-bay nor do I consider buying any used items from the Internet.

...hope this turns out OK, but if not, you probably just hard learned a lesson like I did.

A friend bought was was reputed to be a REAL LT4. And he knew early on that they are rare and he's a smart guy. The Ebay seller gave him all the right answers, and when the engine showed up.... LT1 block with a LT4 conversion. If that's what he had needed, we could have just converted his, we needed an entire, real LT4. He didn't get it, and until he sells some of the parts, he's out about $2k.

I agree with you Sam. I'm going to try to see if I can send them back. The people I bought them from have a 30 day return policy. I won't get my shipping back, but it will be better than having two screwed up shocks.

...save all they E-bay info, e-mails, ads, cancelled checks, bank statements, notes from calls, e-mails from this cite as evidence for your claim.

..good luck and stay away from E-bay for anything used; it is there for a reason.

That's best for you. At least with new shocks you have a full warranty (and this situation would be covered under that). And no wait to get the shocks rebuilt, only a few days for delivery.

Yeah I was relieved when I got the e-mail

Do you know of any Convertibles out there running your springs? I haven't seen any here yet. I plan on running your springs, bars, and a "new" set of koni's lol

I don't even ask. A convertible is the same beast, especically if you run SFC's on it. Only a touch more weight in the rear. I'm sure there are converts with my springs on, I know long before I did mine I did one with LT1 Pro-kits which are actually ultimately a bit stiffer than mine, and it was great.
