Default Hoses mod quckie

I have been wanting to do this mod for a while now. I have done a lot of searches on here to see if a adjustable Panhard bar is needed? No one has exactly said yes or no that has my type of set up in the rear. I have a stock GM springs replaced not to long ago,ZR1 17x11 wraped with Gs-D3 tires. All input is helpful looking to do this mod here in the next couple of hours. Thanks again

Even a stock car can use an adjstable PHB cause the rearends are biased towards the driver side. All in all it depends on your wheel tire combo and if you have bumpstop clearance issues.

Well I have completed the hoses mod. LS1w66 I still do have the factory bumpstops. I am about to take her around the block to see were the rear sits as of now. Earlier I said I have the ZR1 wheels with Goodyear Gs-D3 I think the back are a 50mm offset. I will post before and after pics here shortly.

I did the "hose" mod yesterday as well. It was pretty simple, I just can't really tell a difference. As for the Panhard bar, I've heard of stock cars needing them to fit 17x11's so it probably varies from vehicle to vehicle.

Give the springs a little time to resettle in.

Did you measure first? I've done it on two cars and it's given 3/4" on each one - visually quite noticeable.

It's not the bumpstops it's the brackets they bolt to. Some people have rubbing isses with 11" wheels.

Well I have rubbing issues but only when the suspension is maxxed out the sidewall pushes against it. No problems when driving though.

Well Mattsim78, as for the ride height not changing I noticed a difference after I drove the car and then compared new pics to old pics. I measured the ride height after and I have 2 inches from the top of the tire to the bottom of the fender. The body is sitting 5 inches off the ground. I guess that is low enough to me.

From the way the car is sitting now I don't see the need in a Adj panhard bar.

I'm sure it's lower, just perhaps not as noticeable as some people make it out to be. I did some searching on the topic and some people made it out like it was almost as good as installing lowering springs.

the stock springs won't really settle much more than they already have.....the settling usually only happens to new springs that have never been installed before, because they've never had a continuous load put on them. any settling that the stock springs will do, they will do within minutes of re-installation.

Well, if you measure the drop you get right after the install, and then again after driving it for a day or so, you'll see that they drop a little more. It's not the springs themselves necessarily, but everything snugging up after they've been through a few load cylces.

what is there to snug up? if you seat the spring in the perches correctly in the first place, there is nothing to snug up. it's not like the springs are press-fit onto the perches in the rear, they're pretty loose on the rear axle....and with the rubber "donut" gone, there's only the heater hose left to compress, which will compress about as much as it's going to as soon as the weight of the car is on it.

Yeah you are correct on that statment that people make it out to be somthing more like a lowering spring. Not to bad for free. My girlfriend and I feel like the car sits a little more level front to back now.

Well I do belive that RevGto and 02z28ls1 have the same idea, but after taking the spring out and letting them expand I would think you would see a slight ride height change after the springs go back to being under a load.

What you're saying makes perfect sense, but I've measured a 1/2" drop upon lowering the car to the ground, and 3/4" a day later. Like what you see after a car's been on a lift - it sits a little higher at first. My point to the OP is if the "after" pic was taken right after the install, it may give a little more.
