Just Bought A Cadillac (Update)
So last week I posted up, in pure excitement, the fact that I had just purchased an 09 Cadillac CTS-V.
Here is my previous thread:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/texas-mem...w-some-ds.html
Nonetheless, when I picked the car up from the dealership in New Orleans, I noticed the starter was dragging a bit....chalked it up as a weak battery and I figured I would just take it in for warranty coverage.
Today, I get a call from my local Cadillac dealership and they tell me some bad news.......the warranty is blocked by GM. When I purchased the car, I was told it was previously a Certified PreOwned car and the warranty coverage was good for 10 years or 100,000 from the in-service date.
After a game of back and forth with the dealership, the mechanic confirms that the engine is not stock....it is not the all aluminum LSA engine, it is in fact an orange iron block....best guess, it's a built LSX.
Hmmmmm...Should I be upset, because I'm not. I would really like to know more about this car. What work has been done, where has it been done, etc......
What do you think.??
Thanks.!

I would be a little pissed if I were buying a used, but relatively new car and the dealer failed to disclose warranty status etc. For all you know the previous owner popped the LSA motor and threw in JY motor and traded that bitch in. The dealer should have known its status upon taking it in on trade and made the disclosure. See if they will contact the previous owner on your behalf. You could also run the tags thru public data(pay service) and find the previous owner, assuming it does not have paper plates.

Totally agree lol. I'd be mad as hell. Who knows what other problems you may run into. Dont expect the dealership to let you know anything. Question is, how well did you inspect the car before buying? Regardless, the warranty issue would have pissed me off.

I work for a dealership and I can certainly unwind the deal. I'm trying to contact the previous owner and see what kind of work has been been done to the car.
I did get the car on the lift today and it definitely has an orange/red powder coated 5.3/6.0/LSX block in it.
I'm making some calls now....I'll keep you all posted.

I left the previous owner that traded the car in a voicemail....Car was traded in at one of our Alabama stores and transported to New Orleans for resale. Pretty standard thing.
I put the car on a lift here and snapped the best photos I could. Couldn't find any marking at all, it's pretty tight down there. That's what she said.

I would deffinately be getting out of the deal. No one trades in a perfectly good modded car and not tell the dealership about it. Its going to have all kinds of problems. Check the head casting numbers to find out what if its a 5.3 or 6.0. LSA/LS3/L99 heads will not fit on a 5.3 bore.

I absolutely wouldn't keep the car, and I don't think that you're legally obligated to. I wouldn't want to mess with a potential diaster built car when I paid for an 09 V with a warranty.
