I have an 02 Camaro doing the same thing only it doesn't smell like coolant. I took my passenger seat out and pulled up my carpet, to find that it was coming from the casing that covers the heater core. I took it to a mechanic and he thought it was just A/C condensation leaking through, because it only leaks when my A/C is on. He told me to save some money just patch the crack with JB weld or something, so i did and it worked for about a week and I started seeing water on my floorboard again. So my question do ya'll think its my heater core or A/C condensation? and if it is my A/C where is that drain hose?

I used to get this real bad in my 96 LT1 T/A. My mechanic at the time said he fixed the leak, charged me an *** load and I find out he just used some sealant from Auto Zone. I got my money back and shoved a broom stick up his *** for good measure. (that last part was a lie)

Steps to changing heater core.
Here's a write up I did on another forum.
It takes a couple of hours to replace. It is on the inside of the firewall above where the passenger's feet usually are.
NOTE: YOU ARE WORKING VERY CLOSE TO THE PASSENGER AIR BAG. IT IS RECOMMENDED YOU DISABLE THE AIRBAG SYSTEM BEFORE ATTEMPTING THIS REPAIR.
Disconnect the battery and drain the cooling system
On the engine side of the firewall remove the two heater hoses.
(you may have to cut them off & mark which one goes where)
remove the heater core pipe clamp bolt
Inside the car remove glove box
open it -squeeze the sides and let it drop down remove hinge screws
this will let you access the upper heater core cover screw.
below glove box remove the dash insulating panel
this will get you access to the lower screw
if you have ac remove the evaporator temperature sensor wiring clip from heater core.
remove heater core cover.
remove the heater core clamp bolt and clamp
slide the heater core out.
Reverse the procedure above to install new core.

^^^Big thanx oem ta. I just might try it on my own idk. I'm in the process of tearing it all apart anyway to drop in 6.0 LS2 t-56 I'm also changing out the complete interior and putting an 02 35 Anniversary SS int in it so my dash is coming out anyway, as well as the complete int.

Very good info, thanks for the write up.
Mine started to leak near the passenger side floor bed. Stank of coolant inside the car. My car did over heat though, so I'm not sure if it's a heater core problem. And i couldn't tell if its cuase of the A/C since I hardly use it. But everyone I spoke to has told me to replace it. Would it take the same amount of hours for a core off a sixer? I just dont have the time to replace it myself, as much as I would want to. Mechanics are charging me 400 and up for the job. sucks..
