yeah...dynasty is one of the most versatile AC/DC machines, but plan on spending 3500 fully functional unit (not including argon bottle).

miller syncrowave or dynasty or lincoln invertig.
You can go with a cheaper machine, like the starter millers. They wont be very versatile or do as thick of aluminum, but they will work great for a hobby machine.

If you want portability, and amazing aluminum options, go dynasty 200. It also only draws like 19 amps on 220, and will run 110v as well.
Syncrowaves are great but heavy, large, and draw alot of current. My sync 250 draws 108 amps with the water cooler at full capacity... It has been sitting on the side since my dynasty came along.

depends what you're wanting to do...the Dynasty is probably the best out there. We have a couple 200SD's at work for tube welding and they are amazing for what they are. the 200DX has all the "bells and whistles" to really get some amazing looking welds, especially on aluminum, but the DX is $3500+ for the runner package, i'm not sure but the SD should be closer to your price range. For all intents and purposes though, the Syncrowave line is also great. i use one of several 250DX's every day at work and they're great. Some of the older machines run even better, not sure why, but some of the best welders i've used were over 15 years old.
