The Craftsman 50244, 3-Ton, Aluminum Racing Jack is nearly perfect. I needed an aluminum jack because dragging my 100 lb steel jack along my driveway makes too much noise on Sunday morning. I had resisted buying however, because my old jack works so well and because I had read many reports here of problems with Al jacks. You may need to bleed the 50244 before it works properly - I did. The procedure is simple and is described in the instruction booklet. I had to repeat the procedure several times – I almost gave up. I’ve been using mine for several weeks and it has become one of my favorite tools. The “Speed-Lift” feature seems magical. Don't be deterred by the pseudo-carbon-fiber, stick-on patches - they peel right off.

It rarely goes on sale. I think the lowest I've seen it for is 279.99
I've never been a fan of the Craftsman aluminum jacks because they seem so fragile. I had the 2 ton one and it broke a few months after I bought. Ended up using warranty credit to purchase the 4 ton jack. More heavier duty and also has the "speedy lift" incorporated into it.

I have had every Craftman jack. I bleed them every so often. The best jack that Craftsman makes is the plane jane cheap *** #50136 3 ton. Most jacks begin to leak down after a year, even when bleed regularly. The 3 ton takes a little longer and is a little heavier but wil outlast the rest. If I need it on gravel I'll carry it. With the low Camaro I have to lift one side at a time but I prefer that over it leaking back down before I can get stands under it. Hopefully one day they will have an aluminum and speedy lift jack as durable as this.

I have to say I have the real heavy steel one 3 ton I believe, its still working after 5 years, I do have to pump it alot and my arms get tired but it still works. I bleed it a few times over the years as well.
I bought a lighter aluminum one but it sucks on my car since they are lowered, the handle doeesnt go down far enough so you cant really jack up the front end at all because it doesnt slid in enough before hitting bumper. it does work great on the sides and sometimes the rear end though.
I then ended up buying another alum. jack from harbor freight and the handle goes down alittle further than the craftsman alum. and it works just as fast.
I always wing up using the steel one to get the car slightly in the air and then finish off with the other one since it seems to pump quicker.

I’m the OP and have not changed my opinion after using the jack many times. I drag race and during racing season I inspect underneath my car weekly. My new jack makes this much less of a chore than before. I delayed getting an aluminum jack for several years because of poor reviews here and because my steel jack worked so well. I no longer use my steel jack. The Craftsman 50244 is better in every way. Once you experience the "quick lift" feature you won't want to do without it.
