I know this is a little smaller in the displacement aspect that most folks here are used to, but this is my joy aside from my 97 6 Speed Bird. I picked this thing up as a roller with the original head after Don Polk passed away and have had it ever since.

My ultimate goal is to get into something nice and LS1 powered. I am not against Manual or Automatic, just not looking for a project. I'd also really prefer a Firebird/Trans but I'm not overly picky on that bit. So, this is up for grabs for anyone wanting to feel the joy of AWD, high revving, forced induction action. Car previously ran an 11.4, but has since seen a plethora of upgrades as well as better engine management since Polk ran it so I suspect it can do a bit better.

This is not a car owned by a young kid who takes it out and tries to street-race everything they see. I drive this vehicle at least 3-4 times a week as a daily, and take trips in it. It has yet to see the track since I've finished it but is meant to head to next years' Shootout in August. I do my best to take care of this vehicle and nothing close to a body kit, "T3/T4" upgrades, or "Stage 2 Cams" are ever mentioned as such. A lot of research has gone into the vehicle. This car was owned by a legend in the DSM community and is treated as such by me...save for the drag wheels/tires. Those aren't really daily friendly. On to the goodies.

I am fine with adding a little money, depending, but for something stockish and in similar condition I'd like to try to focus on a direct trade for trade. When I say a "Little Money" I don't mean half of a year's pay for the average Joe. Let's keep it reasonable. I really am not looking to put $15,000 on top of this vehicle for something.

Thanks.

Nice ride. Just a minor correction, you probably meant to say "this is NOT" a car owned by a young kid.

I bought a 98 Eclipse GSX brand new years ago. I love nice clean DSM's. Too bad at 6' 225lbs I don't fit in them anymore. Hard to find nice clean ones nowadays.

Haha, that's actually a major correction. I'm stuck at home sick for a few days (work has quarantined me) so I had the time to post this here. I'll blame that typo on the illness.

To be ironic, I'm actually around that size - 6'1 and 220ish. It's pretty comfortable. I came from the 1G Family of DSMs thinking that a 2g wouldn't be comfortable and here I am. Any taller, though, and I'd have issues fitting.

And you're absolutely right. Most people get them, beat on them, break something, and then pawn them off. I parked this thing for a year to go over every inch of it before I ever drove it anywhere.

Hmmm, bigger injectors, meth injection or E85 and a Forced Performance HTA Green turbo is all this thing needs. Now my wheels are turning

It was originally going to see an HX35 tuned on 93 fed from 1000cc FIC injectors, but I actually played around with the streetability of the two and decided if I -was- going to go larger, I'd do no more than a 20g-ish range of power. Was never looking for an 8 second car. It was conditioned the way it is to be able to daily drive, but still have fun in and be impressive. E85 secondary tune was and still is a possibility as we have E85 available here.

Looks like you know a few things about the DSM world, though.

Oh yeah bud. My car had a forged 7 bolt, hks 264/272 cams etc... And every turbo from a td05h-19c to the older td06 50trim FP Green. E85 was not around back in 98-03 when I had mine. Bought it new for $28k sold it with only 52k miles on it for a new STI.

Thank you! I do also, specifically Talons. A bit harder to find. The AWD 2gb Talons produced a very limited number. I'm attracted to unicorns. Haha.

Oh nice. I'd love to see some pictures if you still have some! This originally had a 2.3 7 bolt along with it, but when I was measuring everything the P2W clearance and bearing clearances weren't going to cut it, so I parted it out and went with a 6 bolt with the plans of a 2.2 down the road.

Didn't figure I'd really run into anyone around here with any knowledge on these. I'm pretty excited about that! At this rate if someone picks it up, they'll know how to take care of it.

Not so sure how comfortable I am with this because my house is informally know as "the land of broken dsm dreams" but if you wanted to put up a few thousand in cash with it I might be interested in a trade deal. Idk. 6 hours from here to memphis.

^the story behind the name is just that my roommate has a 1g tsi awd that he has spent a few years rebuilding on a super low budget and it's terrible and doesn't run well haha

Haha. Well I understand the concern - the typical DSM owner pretty much ruins one and then passes the problem off to someone else. It can be a pain to try to fix someone else's problems.

Any who, if it needs additional cash thrown in, It's likely not what I'm looking for. I sure appreciate it though.

I'll see about doing that now. I actually began the tuning process yesterday so we'll have everything tuned on a conservative 20psi with pump 93. Not too much, not too little. After I have setup the wide and to log through the ECU we will complete it - so until then it's not "completed." Same driving state it was in, but decided to go ahead and tune before getting rid of it. May just change my mind. Haha.
