I am pretty sure with boat motors you want a broad powerband. Hency why 460's and 454's are so popular, none of the boat motors seem to be real peaky.

180ls1---- I think what you mean is that you want a motor that has a rather flat torque curve, so as to be able to pull at any rpm with ease and not bog.

I would say yes an Ls1 can be put into a jet boat. Most motors start their first real world applications in marine areas. One reason is that the motors get all the cooling that they need. In fact most marine motors will have a higher power rating than an almost Identical street motor due to restraints such as A/C and the needed accessory systems on street cars/trucks.

Doooooo it.

my twin engine jet boat revs a lot higher than that

how long do you keep your stock ls1 revving at 7500? doesn't seem like it would last that long

it has more to do with the power curve. There are lots of diesel boats that haul *** and dont see more then 3,500 rpms. But you never see a big turbo 2jz supra motor engine that spins to 10,000 in a boat even if it makes 600 horsepower. I should not say never but they are not common.

well im sure your twin mercury's outboards rev pretty high but were not talking about fishing boats here lol j/k

but on a serious note ive messed with tons of flatbottom style boats that most people refer to as a "jet boat"

but i never really seen a twin engine jet drive boat are you sure its a jet drive or stern drive??
but either way props to you man, i wish i had a twin engine boat

lol some funny *** replies in here thanks for the input guys. I was pretty sure i could do it but just wanted to verify. i can get a steal of a deal on a 5.3L truck engine... would that work better since torque comes in a lot sooner?? or would you guys go 5.7 and above? im thinking of going carb too... cam suggestions?

6.0 if you can with like an asa cam, and you would want efi. Beating around and bouncing up and down all the time i would imagine an efi setup would be much safer on the engine.
