Default Thinking of changing wheels...Yay or nay?

I love the way my 19" HP Evos look, but they're hindering my performance goals. My car is becoming a track day/weekend driver, and I want the car to be able to run well on a road course. The HP Evos can't fit larger/better brakes due to the deep lip and the spoke design, and at 19" they're pretty heavy.

I'm thinking of switching to Forgestar F14s:

And my own pitiful Photoshop attempt:

The wheels are lightweight, flow-formed, and relatively affordable. I'm more of a function over form kind of guy, but I still like my car to look good. I'd just like to get others' opinions.

I would stick with the wheels you have. I personally don't like wheels that don't have a nice deep dish.

only wish good looks could perform good too .. but if I had your wheels , Id never change them out ... thats probably one of the reasons im looking for something lighter (most probably 18s) .. I dont like those forgestars much either..

Have you thought about going with Z06/ZR1 or CTS-V brakes? I have RPM 505 wheels which are almost identical to the HP EVOs. I was curious to know if I would be able to fit Z06/ZR1 or CTS-V brakes with those wheels, so I checked online to see if the RPM 505s were available for those two cars. They are, so I think it's safe to say that those brakes will clear the RPM 505s and the HP EVOs on F-bodies.

I laughed when I saw i was the first person to vote

Those wheels look great on the Vette, the real question is will they look good on your Formula. I never have really liked the Evos, but that's just me. I like deep dish wheels, but I think i like the Forgestar because its NOT deep dished like a lot of other wheels with that general design/style.

With that, you should be able to sell your current set up and have a small difference when buying the Forgestars.

I like the EVO's, or pretty much any wheel 1000x better when they are regular offset in the front and deep dish in the rear. Deep dish front wheels remind me to much of FWD cars.

In everything I have read on here theres no way they will fit the big calipers. Even guys who get custom wheels like CCW or Iforged have to get the fronts with a very minimal lip up front to work wit the brakes.

I was planning on going with 4-piston CTS-V calipers. HP Evos/RPM 505s will NOT clear CTS-V/C6Z06/5th gen SS brakes due to the deep lip and spoke design. The spokes sit very close to the stock calipers (there's about 1/4" of clearance). Even C5/C6 calipers have clearance problems. So while the HP Evos look good, they're limiting the car's performance potential.

I'm sure a half inch spacer will correct any clearance issues.

I refuse to run a spacer. I don't trust them.

Why? People have been using them for years without problems... even during track events.

Are you referring to a spacer or a bolt on adapter?

I've heard countless times where wheels came off the car, especially in a cornering situation, because spacers put too much stress on the wheel studs.

The other reason I won't use a spacer with the HP Evos is they already have a 38mm offset. A spacer would make them stick out past the fenders.

I think those wheels would look sweet on the car in satin black or satin gunmetal with a CTS-v or C6 Z06 14" brakes behind them . Not so much with the stock brakes . Hopefully the offsets are such that dont tuck in the fender wells . All these F-cars with flangeless wheels that tuck in look really bad imo.

You can specify any offset you want on the Forgestars, from 26-60mm I think. IIRC, the CTS-V brake setup requires a 41mm or less offset. I'm not sure exactly what offset I'd need for 18x9.5" fronts to sit flush.
