Nitto NT 05
Well i just got a chance to put these tires on finally and got to drive it for a bit before it started to rain. Wow what a difference, now i have hardly any tire slip in 1st gear which is amazing and zero in 2nd gear. I feel very confident now when i go WOT in 3rd with nitrous i should hook and going from 3rd to 4th shift i should hook as well. Great tires, now i gotta save up for a clutch, lol.

yeah man I had a set of those a few days back and they was waaay too stickey for my daily driver so i sent them back in order to get the NT555's.well, that and the fact that summit also fu##ed my order since i ordered 315/35/17's and they sent me 275/35's..but I'm glad since it game me a chance to actually feel that those NT05's are waay too soft to be on a daily driven street car. I had MT drag radials on and they only lasted 9 months (not that bad I guess for a DD)..I'm happier with the 555's because I know I can get maybe a year of use out of then. I have a set of 16in firebird rims with MT ET streets that I use when I go to the track. My 315's are only used for looking good and letting me hook from 40mph of faster roll races. On a cold day they will spin like crazy on a 30mph roll, even after a good warming up.

Ya thats me LOL. I think pretty much everyone liked these tires just life span is not all that great and thats i guess to be expected since there so soft. I really needed these tires because my car would spin in 4th bad on the freeway and didnt think a regular ZR tire would cut it at all, this is on nitrous. Ill try these and see if it will even last a year and then go from there.

I havent ran into a red supercharged Z28, maybe he drives by or comes here for parts at the dealer?. The SS is actually a V6 owned by another employee, lol. I make fun of him all the time but thats what he gets for driving a V6 camaro. Im trying to convince him to get a V8 but he's not much into speed just looks. Id like to come out to Bobs but most of the time im hella tired after work, i think ill try this friday if the weather is good, what time do you guys usually go there.

yep i put TPMS in my wheels so i monitor them, for DD i dont really pay attention as much but i do 35/32 because when hot they are at 38/35. so for long distances this is great. and the hot temps for corner carving or out having fun, yes i get out and bleed them if needed.

The NT05’s stick greatly, point the car in the direction your aiming and holding true is very confidence inspiring with these tires. I would honestly have to say a notch above some of the best tires I have tried. Grip is definitely noticeable and in general the NT05’s give you a great overall sense of “hugging” the street.
I then went to a remote road section and was able do switch backs and overly aggressive grip U-turns in order to see if I could feel or loose the NT05’s and was able to do so, but only on wildly aggressive maneuvers so in my book they preformed amazing. The sidewalls held great and I can’t say these tires are a hard sidewall but they are definitely not soft. I did specifically try to rim check with these tires going over horrible protruding railroad crossings and I was never able to hit wheel so the sidewalls held up great. Comfort level was great and never any harsh shock or jerk to prove otherwise.
Highway driving is smooth, quiet and effortless, there is no “humm” or “burr burr burr” sound while cruising. Lane changes over uneven road/highway surfaces were smooth and clean, no sudden jerks or stiff sidewalls pulling one way or the other. There were no loud sounds or noticeable unwanted steering wheel pull/vibrations. I was able to drive on both asphalt and concrete sectional highway surfaces when testing the NT05’s.
I was able to track (Autocross) the NTO5’s and was happy with them and never once lost confidence on where I was pointing or where I wanted to go………grip was evident through out the entire event on the front mounted NT05’s.
My wet weather assessment consist of about 25 percent of the time over dry daily driving:
I did get to briefly test the NT05’s in wet weather daily driving. They did defiantly perform well. I will admit they are amazing in dry conditions, yet they are nearly as awesome in wet. I use the word “nearly” purposely to ensure everyone knows that they are a better dry tire. I was able to maintain grip in mild speed u-turns, faster main road exits and off ramps. It took aggressive driving for them to loose grip.
I find that more than acceptable since that type of driving shouldn’t be done and was honestly asking for trouble. However, I figured for me I want to know the limits and aimed to push them regardless. Overall I drive responsibly in wet and have no problem or worry daily driving NT05’s in wet condition weather after my assessment of them in those conditions.

A year to me is like 5 to 10 for everyone else. Here's why... MT drag radials=soft ..good traction..wear kinda fast..lasted me 8-9 months on my DD being easy on them 98% of the time.
Nitto NT555R's= Harder, longer lasting but had less traction than MT's but I got 14+months out of them before they wore bald (85% easy driving because I was younger and needed to prove something lol).I have 315/35's NT555R's on my car now. These tires can still grab very well on a preped drag strip as I found out with my 275 555R's I had on my low 12 second firebird (yes I know that slow but I have much faster car now lol)
MT ET STREETS (competetion style) I race with these at the drag strip and they are only 275's!..I cut 1.5 60ft times on them, funny thing is. I bought the tires used with maybe 70% tread left. I have made about 120 passes on them all including burnouts along with putting them on my car and driving 2 hours to the track and 2 hours back with them on.They have lasted and show no sign of any wear. All my F body freinds who go to the track who dont' have DR's usually borrow these from me and they have put 60 or more passes on the same set of tires. They are semi soft but when warmed get super soft, more than any other DR I have had. Very good tire but they require tubes ( I dont use them in my set tho) and are for racing ONLY..Good tires!!.
Nitto NT05R's..I got those som bitches shipped to my house (Summit sent me the wrong size thank God) They where sooo soft you can scratch chunks of rubber out of it with your fingernails!!. I took my car key and proceeded to slightley stab it into the tire just to see how soft they where. The key was effortlessly pushed nearly 1/3rd of the way into the tread. I estimated with my car being my daily driver, I would maybe get 6 months out of them being 100% easy on them..just an estimate but I'm pretty sure. I sent them back the very next day and got the 555R's and I'm very happy with my decesion seeing as how they still get good traction and will last a long time.[/LIST]

Im happy with your decision. But testing them with your keys and finger nails, guessing 6 months for a daily driver.COME ON NOW.HOW BOUT SOME REAL TESTING!
Hey... look you burn thru them in 1 year, so. Buy another set of rears. We spend thousands on our engines and suspensions, whats another 200$ per tire
YOU WANT TO PLAY YOU GOT TO PAY!
