Default Need help identifying original tire type for 2002 CETA

Hey all,

I just recently purchased an 02 CETA w/ 7200 miles. It is all original so I am looking to replace the Nitto tires on it with the original Goodyear F1 275/40/17.

My question is, I know that goodyear made many types of eagle f1's, (supercars, ems, crazy V pattern ones, etc...) What type of F1 was the original type on the 2002 C.E.T.A.

Thanks!

They were called 275/40/ZR17 Goodyear Eagle F1 tires, but they were discontinued long ago.

Just wanted to say that the Eagle F1 GS-D3 tires that I replaced the originals with are a much better tire and at the time were cheaper.

You can look at the pictures of this SS and see the tires. There was a CETA vert sitting on the lot next to the SS I bought 10 years ago and they had the same tires.

Tire technology moves forward. Very few tires remain in production for too long. They are replaced by better variants.

100% accurate. Those GS-D3 Goodyears were the best tires I ever owned, and only the Michelin Pilot Sport comes close.
My original Goodyear GS-C tires that came on my '01 Trans Am paled in comparison to the GS-D3 when I put them on. Wow!! Handling and 'stickiness' just the best! I had to replace them a few months ago after 6 years and over 20,000 miles. Goodyear stopped making the 16" GS-D3 tires for the T/A and I miss them a lot. The BFG G-Force I bought are OK but not the same. Hopefully the GS-D3 are still available for you and your 17" rims. Expensive as hell but worth every dime!

I wouldn't buy an GSD3's that are still on the shelf as they are all probably old production dates.

To answer your question, the exact tire name for the stock WS6 and SS tires were Goodyear Eagle F1-GS

The GSD3's used to be made in Europe, but they are now made in the US. Tire Rack is sold out and won't have any until 5/30/14.

Just to be sure that they are new stock give them a call.

What he said -- they were the GS. I'd personally go with the GS-D3 if looking to stay as OEM as possible.

If you look on the Goodyear website, the F1-GS is still in production.

I found a couple listings for them, but OMG they are expensive. They were on my SS new and not that great of a tire. Hell, you can get new Michelin PS2's for alot less.

Tire Rack still sell's the F1 GS, but only the EMT runflat version and only in Corvette C5 sizes.
