Arrow Longest Lasting Tires???

Hey guys/gals,

Well It is time for new tires AGAIN...I got about 17k miles out of this set and now I need to look for some new ones to put on next summer when I take my winter tires off.

I know tires don't typically last long on our cars, but I want to know what is the longest lasting tire I can get. I am on a tight budget so the cheaper the better.

I don't do burnouts all the time or anything and most of my miles are highway miles and I want something that is actually going to last for once, I am sick of buying new tires every year.

I am looking at these tires and any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Kuhmo Ecsta AST: $60 each, H speed rated, 400 treadwear, no treadwear warranty

Sumitomo HTR H4: $74 each, H speed rated, 400 treadwear, 50,000 treadwear warranty

Dunlop SP Sport A2 Plus: $88 each, H speed rated, 460 treadwear, 50,000 mile warranty

Yokohama AVID V4S: $94 each, V speed rated, 500 treadwear, 60,000 mile warranty

should I go with a tire that has a treadwear warranty on it being that is a good indicator that it should last fairly long? Is it worth spending the extra $34 per tire for the yokohama, vs. the Kuhmo? I would like to get a tire that lasts at least around 30k+ miles.

Anyone who has had any of these tires or any other tires please comment on how long they lasted, how good of tire they were overall etc..

THANKS!!!

He's probably looking at the stock 245/50R-16. I haven't personally driven on any of these but I had a friend that used the Yokohamas for his daily driver 97' Z28 and liked them a lot. I'm not sure how many miles he got out of them but, I know they lasted a couple years and that was using them all year round. I do know the higher the treadwear rating, the more miles you should be able to get.

I havent tried any of those tires but try out Falken Ziex 512s, I have the W rated 512's and its doing good for me so far.

http://edgeracing.com/tires/2455016/

The H rated 512s are $66 per tire and the Z rated 512s are $86 per tire, they both have 360 tread wear.

That's why I always laugh when everyone gets on here looking for a 50K+ tire that will give them a < 1.8 60'!! Just remember, as treadwear rating starts creeping over 300, your 60', even on a prepped track, will start creeping up as well.

Dunlop SP Sport A2: I have had dunlop sports on my minivan. They're good for maybe 30k on the front and 20 - 25k on the back.

13.8 @ 103.6 mph 1/4--- 2.317-60'
I think he knows what crappy traction is.

I have the falkens right now...I only got 17k out of them

And for all the comments on traction at the track, and 60' times etc... I could care less, I dont want tires for racing or traction at the track, , if I did I would have put "best sticky tires" as the thread title, Hell I don't even need high speed rate tires, being I never drive 130+ mph anyways.

I am looking for a set that will last more than 20k miles and looking for opinions on any of these tires from people who have had them or know someone who has had them. I have learned that treadwear means nothing from brand to brand because they all rate them diferantly...so I want real people to comment on how many miles they got out of there tires.

I am getting pretty good life out of the GS-D3s and
street traction is pretty nice, but these are well out
of the evident price ballpark and they suck as bad
as the original F1s at the cheese-crusted local track.

Which model Bridgestone Potenzas did you have? I assume you drove them hard by your reply lol, but I am still curious as to how many miles you got out of them.

Thanks

it was somewhere between 28k and 32k... but i couldnt tell you more exact then that without going thru the folder with all my cars paperwork.. (i keep track of alot of stuff like that by putting it in this one big folder... its nice that i have it, but its a pain to lookup something like that... someday i'll organize it better)

i couldnt tell you the model, i only remember they're bridgestone potenzas..

That's what I have on my Z28 now, and yeah, they are not holding up too well at all.

Sorry for the 60' and sticky comments, but sooo many come on here and ask for something that does not exist!
My suggestion is to call up Tire Rack (it's toll free, and NO obligation) and ask to speak to someone at least a little familiar with our (or at least RWD V-8) cars. Ask them what are the highest mileage tires available in our size, and about the best mileage warranties.

BFgoodrich TA KDWS's last awhile, hard compound but shitty traction.

at least get the KDWs which are softer and a great tire.

My only experience is w/ the Firehawk tires that came w/ my car, BFG KDWs, and the Firehawk Wide Ovals I have on the car now. 3x,xxx miles from each set (no burnouts, rotate the tires). My wide ovals have 5 - 10 k left (I'll end up getting 30-35 from those) and I plan on buying them again from tirerack.
