2023 Cadillac Escalade-V Takes Crown for Most Ridiculous Vehicle on Sale Today

2023 Cadillac Escalade-V

It’s hard to believe that the 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V exists, but then again, it also makes a ton of sense.

Throughout the course of history, there have been many vehicles that qualify as simply ridiculous, whether that be six-wheeled trucks, gigantic lifted machines, and tiny little rides stuffed with massive powerplants that make them essentially unsafe to drive on public roads. But we personally love all of these over-the-top creations, which is probably why we’re also fascinated by the new king of excess – the 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V, a vehicle that GM brass somehow approved for production in a day and age where V8-powered vehicles of all sorts are going the way of the dinosaur.

The 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V takes GM’s massive, hyper-luxurious flagship and turns it into a tire-burning thrill ride courtesy of the automaker’s supercharged 6.2-liter V8 that cranks out 682 horsepower and 653 pound-feet of torque. It’s essentially a Blackwing with a massive cargo area and room for the whole family, as well as a sports car killer in a straight line. It makes pretty much no sense, particularly at its insane $150k+ price tag, and that’s precisely why we love it.

We aren’t the only ones blown away by the new V, however, as The Straight Pipes came away mighty impressed after launching the giant luxury barge time and time again. However, this thing doesn’t handle or brake particularly well and gets horrid gas mileage, making it a one-trick pony of sorts. But that pony is a prize-winner at any fair, as this thing rockets to 60 mph in around 4.3 seconds and does the quarter-mile in 12.7 clicks – not bad for a 6,000+ pound land yacht.

At first glance, it’s hard to believe that the 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V actually exists, but when you consider all of the above, it makes perfect sense. This is a vehicle that only a small, select handful of well-off enthusiasts will purchase. It won’t be built in large quantities, and it’s virtually a lock to become a future collectible, particularly since it may be the very last of its kind. And in that regard, we can see why it exists as a true flagship and headline-grabber that will likely help GM sell more regular Escalades.
