502 WHP Heads & Cam C7 Corvette: LMR Stage 1 With Kooks Longtubes Now Added

OK, so you already knew that this C7 with an LMR Stage 1 cam and ported heads made 470 HP and 432 LB-FT at the tires despite the restrictive stock intake and exhaust. But now, despite the stock intake still in place, some Kooks 1-7/8″ headers and a matching X-pipe kicked those figures to 502 HP and 458 LB-FT at the wheels.

Woowee, now we’re making progress. Of course, there’s still a ton of trial and error needed with the LT1 in order to discover what cam specs and port work it likes best, but this is real progress! Before balking at the fact a similarly modded LS3 throws down nearly identical numbers, let us remember that the first heads and cam LS1s made no where near the power they do now. I suppose we’ll have to wait and see how well the new LT1 responds to upgrades, but if this is any indication, we’re in for a real treat!
