Naturally Aspirated Silverado Drag Truck Runs 11.20s With An HKE-Built 5.3

Truck

Lets be honest here, a truck is anything but light or aerodynamic, so when we see a fast example it’s deserving of respect. Unlike Corvette owners that have 3000-pound rockets with slippery body lines, truck owners overcome the laws of physics with pure determination and of course, plenty of horsepower. Take for example this wicked regular cab short bed (RCSB) Silverado, it surely tips the scales north of 4000-pounds and despite a tailgate delete, it’s hardly aerodynamic, and yet it’s running in the low 11s without a power-adder. Yep, all-motor, baby! No bottles or boost, just 5.3 liters of naturally aspirated LS fury that’s good for 11.28s @ 119 MPH and will only get faster with more setup. Speaking of setup, here’s what this small cubic-inch, high revving combo is working with:

Ported 243 heads, 239/247 108+3 .700 lift, Holley Hi-Ram intake manifold, Kooks 1-7/8 longtubes, Neal Chance 6000 stall, 4L70E with a trans brake and 4.88 gears.

I’m a sucker for RCSB GM trucks on big and littles, especially ones that can haul the mail!
