Arcticmaster Artist Rendering Takes Buick Wagon to The Extremes

What happens when an artists with a great mind thinks of arctic exploration in a Buick? You get the Arcticmaster, of course!

Digital artist Abimelec Design is our kind of artist. Why? Because that’s who is responsible for this photorealistic rendering of possibly the coolest* Roadmaster ever. Called the Arcticmaster, this digital rendering explored what the Buick wagon may look like if equipped for exploration near the earth’s poles. Yeah we know about other Roadmaster wagons doing cool things, but the thought of seeing one explore the most inhospitable parts of the globe – ironically – warms our hearts.

Beyond just a off-road lift, the Arcticmaster is outfitted with large balloon tires, necessary for staying on top of the fluffy white stuff. Monster fender flares are part of the deal too, but for us, we like the use of an LS3 up front for power. Since it’s just a rendering, the suspension is described as “beefy.” and it would need to be. Those big balloon tires are on Rotiform rims, and probably add a decent load to the entire suspensystem on their own.

If you are doing Arctic exploration, you’re going to need the Arcticmaster’s other details. There’s a spare tire mounted on the roof rack, with traction boards on either side. For front-end protection, there’s a bash bar, and for the explorer, there’s a bed in the back! With the increased popularity in overlanding rigs, we are actually surprised that the Roadmaster hasn’t really been tapped for its potential. Though to be fair, rear drive only does limit the car somewhat. There’s a reason why Buick didn’t call it the Off-Roadmaster.

Renderings like this give us a fun glimpse into what could be. Naturally, a small lift and slightly larger tires would be easy to achieve with a Roadmaster. Something as extreme as the Arcticmaster would be a lot more intensive to pull off. It very well might inspire a builder to make one of their own.

*We know someone out there has a wicked cool real Roadmaster wagon, and you can bet we’d want to see it!
