Chevy SS and 6th Gen Camaro Top Forbes Best Performance Cars Under $50k

For Forbes latest list of best performance bargains under $50,000, two out of the top 13 cars are from Chevy. No other single brand has two cars on the list. One of the cars I’ve been able to drive both on track and on the street, the other, I’m eagerly awaiting my chance, but both are truly awesome performance cars.

The first car is the Chevy SS. Based off Holdens from Australia, the SS isn’t the hit Chevy had hoped it would be. It’s honestly used so that Chevy can cheat at NASCAR, but the overall car is actually really well grounded. The exhaust note is brilliant, and the shifter in the manual transmission is sublime.

One issue though is the light steering which offers not that much feedback. Great for just tooling around a parking lot, not so great when you’re taking a turn on a racetrack at over a hundred miles per hour.

The second on the Forbes list is the upcoming 6th generation Camaro. It has an all new engine, an all new chassis, and weighs almost 400 lbs. less than the previous generation. It’s getting ready to be an all out performance heavyweight. From everything we’ve heard, it’s going to make everyone say, Mustang who? Get ready people, it’s going to be epic.

Hopefully Chevy builds a 1LE SS, and another Z/28. But until my wishes are fulfilled these are brilliant cars and Forbes has it right with these two cars.
