‘Clash at the Coliseum’ 2022 Chevy Camaro SS Races Into LA Auto Show

This 2022 Chevy Camaro SS donning a special livery is on hand to advertise the upcoming NASCAR preseason event.

With winter weather settling in (or raging in, more accurately), it’s not the best time to be an automotive enthusiast for a lot of folks around the country. However, the weather is pretty much perfect in the sunny confines of Southern California this time of year, and the action inside the Los Angeles Convention Center, which is where the 2022 LA Auto Show is currently taking place, is undeniably hot. There are plenty of cool rides to check out as well, including this special 2022 Chevy Camaro SS advertising the upcoming “Clash at the Coliseum.”

The annual NASCAR preseason event takes place on February 5, 2023 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, making this the perfect venue to show off a custom 2022 Chevy Camaro SS decked out in the race’s official livery. And that’s precisely what visitors will find when they attend this year’s LA Auto Show, which is currently open to the public through November 27. However, press has already gotten their chance to check out the event, which is precisely where we came across this cool Camaro.

Though it’s getting a bit old in the tooth, we’re just happy to see that the Camaro is still around in these troublesome times for ICE engine enthusiasts, and it’s still packing a V8 and manual transmission option – something that’s sorely lacking from today’s new vehicle lineup. With a naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter powerplant under hood, performance is still impressive to this day, with the SS serving up an even 455 horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque.

Flowing through GM’s quick-shifting 10-speed automatic transmission, the Camaro SS uses that power to accelerate from 0-60 in just a hair under 4.0 seconds, with the quarter-mile coming in 12.2 seconds at 118 miles-per-hour. Better yet, the newest Camaro is also a formidable handler, one capable of ripping off 0.96 g on the skidpad – this certainly isn’t your father’s one-trick muscle car by any means.

This particular example serves as a rolling billboard for its race-going brethren, and also as a reminder – even though much of the country is digging themselves out of a pretty snowy situation at the moment, we’re just a mere few months away from the start of another NASCAR season.
