CTS-V For Sale On Our Forums Ranks High In Power Per Dollar

Prochargers, LS engines and 6-speed manuals make the first generation CTS-V a true performance bargain, just like this one on our forums!

Cadillac’s CTS-V is A very unique car. It was GM’s answer to the mid-size luxury sedan wars. But it was bigger than them. It was also a second attempt at a bit of a flop, which is rare from GM. The Catera wasn’t anywhere near what Cadillac thought it would be, and probably wasn’t anything that the public thought it would be, either. Though if we look at the CTS – a name literally shorthand for Catera Touring Sedan – we see one of Cadillac’s best success stories. Add a V8 and you have the CTS-V, like this one on our forums.

This CTS-V is a bit different though. GM did great by installing the LS6 5.7 liter engine, but what if it just isn’t enough? Well, you get a F-series Procharger, and go wild with other supporting engine mods. Forum member 1BADCTS is showcasing everything done to the car, and it’s impressive.

The engine build starts with a Texas Speed short block. From the bottom end, it’s a 383 stroker that started as a 5.3, and supported by forged rotating assembly. Modified LS6 head breathe through LS2 intake components. Forcing air into the engine is is a Procharger F-series supercharger, derived from a kit made for the GTO. Fueling is done by an Aeromotive Stealth 340 liter-per-hour pump in the standard CTS-V tank. That’s supplemented by a secondary fuel system when in boost.

The mods mean this CTS-V makes a very stout 679 rear wheel horsepower. Given what we know about LS engines, this power number is very reserved, and leads to a great daily driver that can scare more than a few brand new super exotic cars. And it is a daily driver, too. The seller lists it as well taken care of, but with a few cosmetic imperfections.

So it has a scratch and a little dent here and there, but looks great when your eyes first see it. Polished CCW wheels work perfect on this car. Plus the interior is in fantastic shape. Best of all, the selling price of $23,000 makes this almost the performance bargain of the century. So you could get a Chevy Trax, or a 680 horsepower CTS-Vwith a boat load of spared. We know which one we would pick.
