Hennessey Venom F5 Twin Turbo V8 Engine Spitting fire on Dyno

Listen as the almighty Hennessey Venom F5 spools its turbos and sings at over 8,000 RPM, following up with brutal pops and flames!

The Hennessey Venom F5 is a subject of intense anticipation for many car enthusiasts. As usual, the iconic Texas-based tuning company is leaving no page unturned in creating the most extreme vehicle they can. They slate the Venom F5 as America’s Hypercar. It’s well justified, too. It’s got the looks to match these claims, undoubtedly. However, the real backing for the hypercar nomenclature comes from its powerplant.

Hennessey recently posted this video of the Venom F5 on a chassis dyno to their Youtube channel. From nice slow-pan shots with the awesome choppy idle to the engine screaming at over 8,000 RPM with the most pleasant turbo whistle one could imagine, this video truly gives some insight as to why this thing deserves its hypercar designation. Furthermore, the intense pulls are all followed by an immensely satisfying blowoff valve hiss and some gorgeous flames spitting out the exhaust.

Venom F5 Uses LS Architecture to Make Brutal Power Figures

Like most Hennessey products, the powerplant is based on the LS. Its predecessor, the Venom GT, uses an LS7 with a pair of turbochargers force-feeding it air. However, the Venom F5 uses a completely unique V8 engine that’s based on the LS architecture. It’s a complete forged steel block with billet main caps, forged rotating assembly including extremely beefy connecting rods, 6.6-liters of displacement, and a compression ratio of 10:1.  Pairing these specs with a pair of Precision Turbochargers nets an eye-watering power output of 1,817 horsepower and 1,193 pound-feet of torque. Yes, seriously.

Hennessey reports that the top speed of the Venom F5 is 311 miles per hour. So, if they can actually manage that speed, it will take the record from Bugatti as the world’s fastest production car.

American-Made With World-Class Performance

Of course, the Venom F5 is much more than just a ton of horsepower. It’s a ground-up engineered car purpose-built for going fast. It has a carbon-fiber construction and is aerodynamically ideal for top-speed runs. Furthermore, it weighs a hair under 3,000 pounds. To put it in perspective, that is over 500 pounds lighter than a C8 Corvette with over 1,300 more horsepower.

One aspect of its weight savings does hinder it a bit, though. It has no airbags and will not be crash-tested to meet US safety standards. So, the Venom F5 is sold in the US exclusively under the Show and Display law, which limits drivers to just 2,500 miles a year. However, we don’t really see that as being a problem, given most cars that carry this kind of pedigree and price tag ($2.1 Million, by the way) don’t see that much driving. Most aren’t even close, in fact. We digress, though, as all 24 Venom F5s are already sold.

Though, as we mentioned before, the video makes it very clear as to why. Even without seeing the rest of the car, this dyno video is enough to make us think we’d be glad to spend the money if we had it. Couple that with the jaw-dropping design and exclusivity and them selling out seems like an obvious no-brainer!

Be sure to check out the video below to fully experience this monstrous 6.6-liter V8.
