I Hope These Camaros Are What I Think They Are!

I’ve got no idea what’s going on with these spy shots over on Autoblog here, but apparently Chevy brought a couple third generation Camaros to test alongside the next generation?

While its not unusual to see the previous generation car under heavy camouflage being used as a mule, we’ve got no idea why Chevy would be testing a couple third gen Camaros too.

They wouldn’t be used as mules so that’s out. My only guess, and this may be more of a personal prayer than a guess, is that Chevy is making a restoration mod third generation Camaro!!!

It will have all new suspension, all new engines, all new pretty much everything to make this car the track car it’s always wanted to be! And it will be re-released just like Nissan did a few decades ago with the 240Z Heritage Program.

Okay, so that’s probably not what’s going on. Our spies did say that one of the cars had an intercooler mount on the front, and the engine sound did seem to be more indicative to a turbo V6, but why would Chevy go to all the trouble of sticking a new turbo 6 engine into a third gen Camaro? This is definitely a confusing puzzle they’ve pulled on us. Sound off on what you think this could be.

But please Chevy, please be making my dreams come true! See the complete set of spy photos here.
