With all the C7 talk stealing headlines we almost forgot to honor the C6’s last stand, a 60th Anniversary Arctic White 427 Convertible that rolled off the Bowling Green, Kentucky assembly line at 8:04 AM on February 28th 2013.
According to a Corvette Museum blog, 215,100 C6 Corvettes were produced since it was introduced in 2005 and the very last example, this 427 convertible will reside at the GM Heritage Center in Warren, Michigan alongside many other historical GM vehicles. Along with the 427 convertible’s long list of special options that were available to the general public, this particular example has an additional claim to fame, its LS7 motor was hand built by Corvette executive chief engineer, Tadge Juechter.
Without a doubt, the C6 pushed the Corvette into territory it hadn’t seen in years, especially with the introduction of the C6 Z06, the reintroduction of the ZR1 and the later LS3-equipped cars. It truly was a good era for the Corvette and we can only hope the new 2014 Stingray will carry the torch with honor.
