LS Fest West 2022

LS Fest West 2022 is over. As usual it did not disappoint with Las Vegas Motor Speedway playing host to some epic LS-powered rides.

Are you a fan of LS power? Unless you clicked on this article by mistake, we have to assume that you are. And if you are, then LS Fest West 2022 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway was the place to be from April 22 – 24. If you are not familiar with this event it is three days of LS-powered madness. And we mean madness in the most complimentary way possible. There is competitive autocross, drifting, and drag racing events. There is a show-n-shine, off-road course, a burnout contest and the list goes on. The best part is this is exclusively for LS-powered vehicles.

In case you missed all of the fun at LS Fest West 2022, don’t worry, we have you covered. We were there to capture some of the action. Emphasis on the word some. There is so much going on and to take in at LS Fest that it is impossible to see it all. But below are some of the highlights.

Autocross Results

Autocross

Chad Ryker and his 1968 Chevy Camaro blitzed the autocross course. He put down the best time of 41.254 which was the fastest in the Vintage class. In the Truck class Keith Corrigan laid down an impressive 43.360 time earning him the win. However, Duke Langley put down the fastest time of everyone. His 2002 Chevy Corvette ran the course in 41.024 seconds giving him the win in the Late Model class as well as the quickest time overall.

3S Challenge

Speed, stop and steering. Those are the components that make up the 3S Challenge. To test these aspects there is a cone course that leads to a 180-degree turnaround, slalom, and a stop box. You run it on the left side and then on the right side. Fastest combined time wins. Knock over a cone and you are out. Lawrence Tolman won the Truck class in his 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500 with a combined time of 35.130. David Carroll took the vintage class in his 1975 Datsun 280Z with a time of 34.350. The late model winner and quickest overall was Andy Voelkel in his 2020 C8 Corvette that put down a 33.175 time.

The Show

The competition was fierce and entertaining. For a list of all race results click here. But in some ways the best part of LS Fest West 2022 is just being around the sea of amazing LS-powered machines. Walking around the speedway you just see amazing ride after amazing ride. Wait, that Datsun doesn’t have an LS, oh yes it does. Surely that Mazda doesn’t have an LS. Beg your pardon, yes it does. It is great to see all the rides that you expect to be packing an American V8. But it is fascinating to see the spectrum of vehicles that people have LS-swapped and brought out to the show.
