Matt Field and Charles Ng Rebound from Formula Drift Long Beach
Charles Ng and Matt Field are two LS-powered guys who made waves in Formula Drift in 2013 made a rebound at Formula Drift at Road Atlanta. Let’s take a look into a highlight their weekend.
Matt Field is best known as one of the few people to nearly take out Daigo Saito during his 2012 Championship run. Matt was one of the even fewer privateers that did so! Unfortunately at Round 1 of the Formula Drift Pro Championship presented by GoPro, he didn’t even start with engine issues in his LS-powered Nitto Tires/CX Racing Nissan 240SX and he did not even qualify. However, the Drift Cave owner was able to rebound at Road Atlanta and qualified into the Top 32. He took himself out after making contact with Fredric Aasbo going into turn 10a during his follow run.
Charles Ng has come back to Formula Drift after being out to compete in the World Touring Car Championship for two years. With the help of Matt Field, who built his car, Charles Ng drives the Maximum Attack/Achilles Radial Infiniti G37 with LS-power. Charles didn’t qualify at Long Beach by missing it with a single point out of Top 32. Formula Drift Atlanta went far better with a much improved Top 32 qualification and he made his way into the Top 16 before being knocked out by Chris Forsberg.
