Michelin Presents Weekly Wallpaper: 1939 GM Parade of Progress Futurliner

This week’s wallpaper is one of the General Motors “Parade of Progress” Futurliners from 1939. Why? Why the hell not?

This is a fully restored, two-toned, red and white classic and is number three of a dozen Futurliners built to promote GM’s cutting edge technology back in the day.

It’s approximately 33-feet long, 8-feet wide 11.5-feet tall and weighs over 12 tons. It was seriously under powered with a puny Detroit Diesel 4-71, a two-stroke, four-cylinder engine which was later replaced with a 4.9L six-cylinder gas engine.

You can read more history about this crazy looking Art deco ride here.
