Modern-day 455 Super Duty Trans Am Is Real & Coming Soon
LT-1 Engine; NASCAR Soul
The development of this super muscle car is a three-way partnership with TAW, Magnuson Superchargers, and renowned NASCAR engine builder Joey Arrington, son of the legendary NASCAR driver number 67, Buddy Arrington. They took a 376-cubic inch LT-1 from a Chevrolet car and turned it into a 455-cubic inch monster motor.
According to TAW’s general manager, Brendan Draper, the engine block retains the stock casting number, but the crank, the cam, the pistons, the rods, the bearings—essentially everything else—are all switched out.
They designed the body with carbon fiber hoods and fenders, as well as the fascias, splitters, diffusers, deck lids, roof skin, headliners. The goal was to increase the strength while dropping the weight and building a beauty to behold.
The new 455 Trans Am Super Duty is a powerful, beautiful, and ultimately rare vehicle; a work of art in its design. The TAW team couldn’t possibly be prouder. Here’s to hoping GM will take serious notice and possibly reinvest in the Pontiac brand.
