Rick Conti Supposedly Jumps His C8 Corvette, but Is It Real?

C8 Corvette Jump

This elaborate C8 Corvette stunt sounds impressive, but there are some curious omissions from the video.

In the world of YouTube (and social media in general) the path to fame is a bit different than other venues. Many YouTubers have made lots of money and attracted millions of subscribers by doing dumb things like destroying their cool vehicles or simply jumping them. Rick Conti, a salesperson at Coughlin Chevrolet in Ohio, has joined those ranks by supposedly teaming up with fellow YouTuber Michael Hyssong, or StreetSpeed717 as he’s better known, and jumping his C8 Corvette. Or did he?

Hyssong, who has over a million subscribers on YouTube, recently hit the mainstream news for jumping his brand new Ram TRX and severely damaging it in the process. Turns out, the state of Pennsylvania wasn’t crazy about the fact that he could have damaged a stream and affected local wildlife by pulling off the stunt. Regardless, Conti says that he was invited to Hyssong’s land to attempt a similar stunt with a C8 Corvette.

Dressed up in an Evel Knievel suit, Conti proceeds to jump his Corvette over another C8 in the middle of the night while it’s raining, but the footage is, shall we say, a bit lacking. It could be due to the poor conditions, but it could also be because this was all just an elaborate stunt that didn’t actually happen. Plenty of commenters have posted their doubts, particularly since Conti doesn’t have any footage of the car landing or the aftermath of the jump.

He does say that the Corvette suffered some damage including the front end and two front wheels. Conti also notes that he was slightly injured in the act, walking away with a few scrapes and bruises. He reportedly had the Corvette towed back to the dealership for repairs afterward, though again, there’s no footage or pictures of the car in its damaged state.

So was this little stunt real, or just an elaborate attempt to attract eyeballs to a YouTube channel? Well, we’ll leave that for you to decide. One thing is for sure though – if Conti did do all of this just for attention, it clearly worked, because he’s getting plenty of it.
