Ever wondered how a turbo was built? Well, wonder no more because here’s an inside look at the process from the pouring of molten metal to the casting, assembly and high-tech computer-aided CNCing. For those familiar with turbo assemblies, it’s still cool since there’s plenty of good info and other cool stuff like working cut-aways […] More »
Ever wondered if it was possible to throw LS3 heads on a 5.3? You can, if you start with a 4.020-inch bore 6.0L block and throw in a 3.267-inch stroke crank from a 4.8L to arrive at 332-cubic inches of high-spinning LS greatness. The motor in question was said to be built by TPIS in […] More »
Sweet googly-moogly. If there was ever any doubt about the capabilities of the fox-body Mustang on the track, let them rest. That lithe frame does wonderful things when you slip an LS under the hood with the added boost of twin-turbos. Holley’s LS-Fest is wonderful just because you get to see stuff like this. 8-seconds […] More »
Dang. Now that is a real turbo. The compressor clocks in at a whopping 106mm. Behind it is an LSx with what I’m assuming is a raft of supporting mods. According the youtube link, they made 1100 horsepower or so on this dyno run. Under normal circumstances, it makes anywhere from 1500 to 1600 horses. Yeah, sounds […] More »
Even the lightest, regular cab, short box, modern trucks can tip the scales around 4000 pounds. With an aerodynamic profile more akin to a barn door, the cards are stacked against owners who want a fast truck. And yet it doesn’t stop many LS-heads from adding big motors, even bigger boost and defying the laws […] More »
Here’s something you don’t see everyday, someone crazy enough to dyno their jacked-up truck with 40″ tires! But the catch, even with the big ol’ 40s, this ’78 GMC can smoke plenty of fast cars, bolt-on Camaros, stock Corvettes and of course, plenty of Mustangs. How, you ask? Why, with a boosted LM7 with a […] More »
There’s something to be said for a fast pickup. They’re inherently unaerodynamic, heavy and severely traction limited–if you have a fast pickup, it’s against all odds. I might be biased because I own an ’03 Silverado regular cab step side (RCSS or RCSB), but a fast pickup is just plain bada$$–especially when it’s packing 1150 […] More »
