Twin-Turbo LS-Powered 1991 Camaro Z28

On just 13 pounds of boost, this wicked twin-turbo LS-powered 1991 Camaro Z28 lays down very solid numbers.

One of our personal favorite things in life are LS-swapped third-gen Camaros, which combine a style we grew up with while also rectifying the fact that these cars came with some pretty uninspiring powerplants from the factory. Throw in a couple of turbos, and it gets even better, as we can see from this killer 1991 Camaro Z28 owned by Marc Schiliro’s Classic Cars.

This 1991 Camaro Z28 is powered by a 5.3-liter mill that’s been treated to a host of upgrades, including an LS1 intake, LS6 cam, and a pair of 58mm turbos feeding it a conservative, estimated 10 pounds of boost on pump gas. Obviously, this combo could be turned up a lot more, but it’s also interesting to see what a mild combination is capable of without blowing the motor up.

Regardless, the numbers this gorgeous Camaro lays down are quite impressive – 552 horsepower and 557 pound-feet of torque, which is enough to make it exponentially quicker than any stock third-gen. “I have to say I’m surprised,” Schiliro says.

“That little 5.3 with 13.6 pounds of boost made 557 horsepower on 93 octane with 14.5 degrees of timing. No knock on the dyno. The air-fuel’s beautiful, it’s a flat 11.5. The boost and creep are 13.67. I’m impressed. For a little 5.3, whoever buys this car is really going to have some fun, and it’s safe to drive. I would take this thing anywhere.”

Indeed, this wicked 1991 Camaro Z28 is currently for sale, and it’s more than just an LS-swapped third-gen. The car has been stripped down and repainted a gorgeous Dark Red Metallic, given new glass and seals, upgraded lighting, and a set of polished Centerline Rev wheels wrapped with Sumitomo HTR tires. Likewise, the black and gray interior is all brand new as well.

Throw in a Tremec T56 six-speed manual transmission and a 3.73-geared Posi rear end, and you’ve got one killer combination that no GM fan can resist. For those that are interested in bringing this beauty home, it’s currently up for grabs at Bring a Trailer, though it probably won’t go cheap.
