Winter Driving Tips

Everyone knows crowd sourcing safety tips from the internet is the BEST way to go – particularly when those tips concern winter driving. So, from the “mouths” of the LS1tech.com Facebook page, the top 10 winter driving tips for your LS car:

10. Buy an AWD SS Camaro.

9. Practice counter steering.

8. Invest in snow tires.

7. Warm the engine to avoid breaking valve springs.

6. Start out in 2nd or 3rd gear on packed snow or ice to help limit slip.

5. Put sandbags in the rear hatch area and don’t floor it.

4. Leave plenty of distance in front of you, ease onto the gas, and brake early.

3. Undercoat it, and don’t rev past 2000 rpm

2. Back the ‘Vette out of the garage let it run….then pull it back in.

1.  What’s winter? I live in in Florida (or Texas, or California).

Consensus is that your baby should probably ride out winter months in a nice, safe heated garage. But if you have to drive it in crappy weather, adhere to the basic rules of the road: don’t follow too closely, leave yourself plenty of room to stop, keep the revs low, watch the crazies around you, avoid drag radials and do as much preventative work as possible to avoid salt and rust damage.

Or just move to a place where humans were meant to survive outside year round.
