YouTubers Unbolt Their C8 Corvette's Doors and Go For a Drive

Some folks will do anything for views, but this sure was interesting to watch.

People will do just about anything to get famous on YouTube these days, up to and including cutting up a brand new Corvette. If you’re still patiently waiting for your C8 to get built, you might want to look away.

The crew over at WrapLife is no stranger to doing strange things with exotic sports cars. In one video, they removed the doors from their Lamborghini and ended up getting pulled over by the police for it. In this video, they’re doing the same to a 2020 Corvette.

The black C8 has already had its glossy paint job covered up with a matte-finish camo vinyl wrap. This is just the next logical step, right? One of the guys calls it a “Jeep-ray,” a contraction of “Jeep” and “Stingray.” We’d make a snarky comment about the C8’s lack of off-road prowess, but heck, most Wranglers barely see the dirt themselves.

Just Another Day at the Office

Taking the doors and roof off of a sports car and driving it down the street admittedly sounds like a lot of fun. We can’t get behind their habit of taking off their seatbelts and standing up while they’re driving, though. That’s just asking for trouble in more ways than one.

They stop at a convenience store to partake in the time-honored pastime known as a “beer run.” Trouble does eventually find them, sort of. They catch up with a friendly police officer who is too amused by the car to write them a ticket. Instead, they give him a branded face mask and part ways with a wave before heading back to home base.

What’s left to do with a doorless C8 Corvette when you’ve already bought beer and talked your way out of a ticket? Donuts, of course. Doors or no doors, the C8 has little trouble making tires disappear into shredded chunks of rubber and white smoke.

It’s all in a day’s work for the WrapLife crew. We’ve often read that if you make a living doing what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life. These guys seem to have things pretty well figured out.
