My Z-28 Sleeper breaks into 10's (vid)
After working on my baby for a few years trying to create the perfect sleeper, it was finally accomplished. This car is my daily driver!.This feat was done by the help of two mods on this board Patrick G. and Kurt Decker. Latest rendition was a 383 Stroker bottom end built by HK Racing in Houston and top end design specs by Patrick G.. These guys are the best. They have seen this car progress from a low 13 sec. car and helped it to become what it is now.
Here is the time slip required for change to the 10 sec club:
Here is a vid of a few of the kills that night as well. A few of the victims were a Roush 427 Mustang, a Z06, and some others. Some runs were all motor passes and 10 sec passes on 125 shot. Enjoy

Thanks. The car is awesome on the street. It is exactly what I wanted to build from the beginning. A good balance between street and strip. I think I wanna be buried in this ride when I kick the bucket but I don't think the wife will allow it.

Shift points are set by tuner (Patrick G.) at 6900 for the 1-2 and 2-3 then 6800 at the 3-4 .
This is what top end looks like:
Heads/ Intake/ Throttle Body:
Airflow Research (AFR) 205cc heads, CNC ported. Heads hand finished by Tony Mamo to increase combustion chamber size to 4.00" bore which further unshrouded the valves. Valve job was modified to increase flow at low and mid lifts., Heads were milled .060" yielding a combustion chamber volume of 57cc. Static compression ratio of 11.92 to 1. 2.02 intake valves with lightweight hollow stems (98 grams each), 1.60 exhaust valves. Double quench paambers.
AFR #8019 valve springs shimmed to within .050" of coil bind. 170 seat pressure, 450 open pressure. 1.775" inst
AFR 205 flow in milled form with 57cc on a 3.900 bore at 28" H2O:
Lift........ .200", .300", .400", .500", .550", .600"
Intake.....158, 220, 264, 285, 296, 300
Exhaust 122., 178, 217, 232, N/A, 241 (with pipe)
Cometic .041" head gaskets to give a .031" quench.
Custom Comp Cams camshaft: 3729R/3731R HR 112 +3
238/242 duration at .050, .605/.610 lift, 112 LSA installed at 109 intake centerline. Dynamic compression of 8.86 to 1.
Comp Cams 7.400" chrome-moly pushrods to accommodate the milled heads and smaller base circle of the cam.
Yella Terra Ultra Light #6645 shaft mounted rocker arms (with .050" shim installed).
Comp R (875-16) hydraulic roller lifters with .035-.050" plunger depth. 3/8 to 1/2 turn of the rocker bolt from 0 lash until 22 lb. ft. of torque.
SLP Cold Air Flow Pac
Motorsport Technology Inc. (MTI) carbon fiber intake lid with K&N filter.
FAST 90 Intake, velocity ported by Tony Mamo from Airflow Research. This porting has been shown to be worth 7-10 rwhp/rwtq over an unported FAST intake.
Nick Williams 90mm custom throttle body
Custom 4" bellows mates air lid to throttle body. No Mass Airflow Sensor.
Speed Density tuned by our very own Patrick G
This top end was specked by and built for Patrick G. and initially was in his monster TA. YEAH BABY!!!
Patrick can squeeze the last horse out of your engine when he tunes. We are not done with mine yet. Still some work left to do. Car has low 10 sec potential with exhaust changes, changing Nitrous threshhold(set to diengage at 6400) and some minor suspension tweeks and some weight reduction.
still want to retain the Sleeper appearance inside and out!

Spray what u got and join the 10 sec club.
I had an 11 sec motor before (cam, heads, stock bottom end and bolt ons) but this one has much more torque and power and is forged so it could take much more abuse without the fear of grenading it, especially spraying while racing. Bottle is always closed on the street since most of the running is done on the track (except for nights when I feel like headhunting). Most 383's that I know of or read about are sturdy mid 11 sec cars that are preety consistant and sturdy.

Hey havok one of the things about this car is that it has had absolutely no weight reduction done to it at all, has no cage, and is probly heavier tyhan most Z's with all the stuff in it. If I were to do all of that including opening up my exhaust mor this car would be alot quicker than what it is now. But fact of the matter is I'm a grandpa and I like to take my kiddos out for sunday drives in a balanced street strip car. Its a miricle I was not kicked of the track for not having a cage. Its required at 11.59 I think. Ya'll don't squeel on me either. Don't know how much longer I can push that envelope. By the way love your set up.
Thank you Slobird.
