Solid 11's last night @ Milan Dragway 11.59 at 124.xx 1.9xx 60'
Bad air, very humid upper 70's at Milan Dragway. Car and mods are in sig. I was finally getting a good burnout, and my launch was improving each pass. Too bad the Exedy twin plate started slipping (badly). Best run of the night was 11.59 at 124.xx with 1.9xx 60 foot time. Not much to brag about considering I am driving an FRC with a 402 stroker pushing 541 rwhp 505 rwtq. At any rate if I can get the clutch rebuilt or replaced soon I may go back and try to put this sucker into the 10.9's with a more aggressive launch after a proper burnout. I wouldn't hold my breath though, but I'd love to see what a non slipping clutch will do with traction and cool air. The run last night was made in high humidty and 75* air. Last week I trapped nearly 127 mph in 60-64* air at the same track with less humidity. Amazing how much difference cooler air makes on a cars ability to trap big MPH.
Goal for this car is 10.99 at 130 mph with a 1.69 60 foot time. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. If my exedy can't be rebuilt, I was considering the RPS street twin. Thoughts on this ?

Thanks for the comments guys, I'm just a little disappointed that I can't drive the car a little better. I've got the power, just not the skill, yet. The conditions weren't great, but they weren't awful either. I really expected after nearly hitting 127 mph the week before that I'd do better all around since I was heating my tires and getting a better jump off the line. In the end though my clutch is slipping bad, car is drivable as long as you baby it. No fun babying a 402 with 541 rwhp 505 rwtq. She wants to go !!!
I think in some cool dry air with a new clutch, good launch and clean shifting she's going to go at least low 11's and 129-131. I'd love to see a 10.999999 but we'll just have to wait and see.

Thanks for your support. Doing Pfadt adjustable coilovers as well as a clutch. 9 1/2 yr old stock suspension is good, but not what it used to be. Do you think adjusting the rear shocks (once the Pfadt coilovers are on that is) to a soft setting will help get some added bite at the track?

From what I've seen/experienced on 6-speeds, it's better so hav a somewhat stiffer suspension in the back so more of the energy is put to the ground on the initial hit instead of being lost through compressing the suspension. I would just get good front coilovers and run them soft

Also fwiw I've cut my best 60' by running my front suspension stiff too. My theory is, assuming traction is present, running stiff suspension is best because it focuses all the energy on movig the car forward instead of up/down. Of course if you're having traction issues, that's not an option.

Damnit! I was there and saw your car. You were directly behind me at the Tech in area. I forgot to save your number in my phone before leaving. Are you going this wednesday? Ill be there for sure.
I did not get to make any runs that night sadly. Bad luck. In the short, very short drive from the pay booth to the Tech in area I ran over a piece of steel and popped my MT ET. So, I sat for 2.5 hours and watched people drive by me
Did you see a black TA sitting right in the corner of the parking lot, where you drive by after running? I / My car sat there almost all night. I now have two new MT ET's and will be going back to try again at my luck.

What tires are you running? I have noticed with a 6 speed the faster you slam through the gears the better your mph will be. When my clutch is having issues and it takes around a full second to shift I can only do 85mph in the 1/8th. When I can slam through the gears like butter I can do around 90mph. Your shifting speed makes a huge difference in mph.

Nittos 555r dr's 305 35r18 Tires are happy at 24 psi cold, all over the track when I went under 24, and still not grabbing if I was over 24 psi.
I hear ya on the slow shifting. I guess I can't shift any quicker. I sure thought I was banging the gears on the near 127 mph pass.

Get rid of those tires and get a set of wrinkle wall bias ply tires. If you don't put a good bias ply on your car everytime you go to the track you are just going to frustrate yourself, trust me I know. The track can be very frustrating at times, but you can minimize that with a better set of tires. What is the smallest size rim you can fit on your car, 17's?

With the vette IRS, 6 speed and a car making 500 rwtq I think you want something to give (wrinkle wall tire). I think a sticky drag radial with no give at all will break ****, especially if it wheel hops. Maybe you don't need a bias ply but I really think it would be a little easier on components.

Well fellas, I just got around to reading some of the comments posted. I got two things, thanks and some of you are correct. The DR will work but a wrinkle wall would be easier on components. The nittos after doing a 4-7 second burnout at 24 psi cold hooked nicely. My third trip to the track can attest as I was able to cut a 1.71 before breaking. The update is on the night I ran nearly 127 in less then optimum air in a car geared and setup for the street my clutch began slipping with anything more then 5-10% throttle. That was after 15 runs in 2 weeks. After replacing the Exedy twin with an RPS street twin lite, and adding PFADT coilovers and sways, w/poly bushings I came back and nailed a sweet 60 ft after a shakedown run. Wanted to see how the Pfadt coilovers were going to react to being launched. Also the Trans brace that is supposed to eliminate wheelhop worked quite well according to many onlookers. They said the rear squatted, tires spun a bit and grabbed. NO HOP at all. None was seen and I didn't feel any. I have felt wheel hop with the old RF's on. Or should I say run craps. Anyways on the first real run as previously mentioned I cut a 1.71 60 ft, nailed a perfect 1-2 shift, saw the shift light, slight pause and then hit 3rd gear. Only problem when I let the clutch pop back up the car just revved and didn't accelerate. I pulled over and got on the ground to see my worst fear. The diff was pouring fluid from the bottom region of the rear cover and casing. Car is at a local shop (D&D Motorsports) since it was inconcievable to send it to Vengeance Racing considering the cost of shipping and then flying down to drive it home. Anyways Donnie Walsh recently started doing Corvettes vs just Mustangs and has many years building t56 trannys. They are most likely finishing the tear down as we speak and I am anxiously waiting to hear how much stuff I broke. Keep your fingers crossed that its only the diff. I am strongly considering upgrading from my stock t56 to there Magnum series t56. I think it has the hardened output shaft as well as all the upgrades ($2795). They are a sponsor so check out there site. Already have an RPM stg III w/3.42's just waiting to see what else I need. Stay tuned.
